The question stops being one of safety and one of morality. Who are we to raise these creatures out of their own time? Could we make a good life for them here? Do we even really know what they want? Archeologists have worked at figuring out their diets and enviromental needs, but when speaking about a creature that hasn't ever been observed alive or even recently dead, we cannot be sure.

The crucial point is: What could we gain? Certainly efforts will have to made to ensure proper treatment, but would what we stand to gain be worth the risk that we can't care for these animals properly? I'm not sure. The gain to what we know for sure about prehistory could be massive, but what could we do with that information? Can we risk grossly mistreating these creatures for the sake of mere scientific curiousity?
Er...we have zoos, and we already don't always know what diets are best for new and exotic creatures.

I see no fundamental difference.

Yes, we can absolutely 'risk' animals living on shitty diets until we figure out the right diets if it means a far deeper understanding of our own evolution and the evolution of birds and reptiles.

In fact, being able to see first-hand which detrimental genes were active during the time of the dinosaurs would be hugely beneficial towards understanding how to treat such genes that exist in today's humans and birds and other mammals.

I say yes, then one can finally go hunting with a tank and not be chastised for overkill. Also, imagine the steaks.

Sure lets do it. The human race needs a fancier way to go out rather than zombie apocalypse or disease or war.

FUCKING DINOSAURS RULING THE EARTH. LETS GO.

Yeah twenty foot, vicious animals let lose. Seems like there is nooooooooooo way that could backfire. And lets be honest it would differently fall under If it can go wrong, it will go wrong. Not being pessimistic, I would love to see something like that, but yeah I think it would totally backfire.

I'm gonna go say no to this one. Even if the park wasn't run by dumb asses something would go wrong, and somehow people would get eaten. Even if you had geniuses running the show some tard would come along and mess things up. It'd just be a matter of time. It's best not to play with fire.... or extinct big ass carnivores that nom nom nom ya in one bite.

Yes, but let's give all the staff there some very high-powered guns. And realistically we won't be able to introduce lots of massive carnivores like T-Rex because the amount of territory required to sustain just one of these would be absolutely ridiculous. Herbivores and small carnivores/scavengers are fine.

If you ever read the book you'd know that even with competent personnel it'd still be a disaster waiting to happen.

In the book, even before the power gets shut down dinosaurs are roaming free across the park, breeding, and making it off the island. Even something as minor as dinosaur poop becomes a problem since the bacteria needed to break it down went extinct millions of years ago.

Hmm...should we bring back giant lizards that can eat a lion in a single gulp back to life...do you wanna bring back Hitler and let him run it while we're at it? That's just what we need Nazi dinosaurs

Bitches, who's voting yes.

DID YOU NOT WATCH THE MOVIES.
Yes we did see the movies.

And while the aesop they went for was something like "Don't play god" they showed us the aesop that said "If you are gonna play god, these are the things to avoid".

I loved the books in that they really put some solid question marks behind the progress of science and the drive of major corporations. While I do think the situation sketched in the books was a bit over the top and Malcolm was an alarmist, the books made very good points why people should not build things like Jurassic Park. So my answer is no.

The only question is really 'why should we?' On the one hand, yes you could get a lot of money, like in that GBA port where you ran Jurassic Park itself; on the other, I kind of think it's be cool to ride into battle on a dinosaur- maybe mount canons on a T-Rex or something.

I find it strange that so many people seem to be saying that something would go wrong. Why do you say that? There are millions of zoos around the world caging large predatory creatures, and if there is ever an escape, it tends to be like one animal and it's sorted really quickly with no casualties. In this scenario, oh no, it got loose. We are on an island, who cares?

We keep lions, tigers, bears, elephants, hippos and all sorts of other large, very dangerous animals, and most dinosaurs aren't that much bigger (And those that are probably wouldn't survive do the lower oxygen levels.)

I voted no, because I don't think it's a 'good idea.' I do, however, think that if we can do it, we should do it. Just because it's a bad idea doesn't mean it should not be done. I'd rather it turn out to be a horrible mistake that we learn from than us never taking the chance to do something that incredible.

EDIT: Argue with me
