I would build a flying city, like Laputa (begging your pardon to all the native spanish speakers out there).
It would be a wonderful city of freedom where only super special awesome people were allowed in, we'd hover down to the surface every now and then for water and whatever supplies we couldn't make ourselves.
Damn beaten to it.

May I ask, what does Laputa mean?

In Spanish La Puta means the whore, or something to that effect.

I'm going with under a New York esq city or the Moon. Both have interesting possibilities.

Edit: 900th post! Almost there.

Thanks. Breaking down the language barrier one swear word at a time.

Also Laputa: Castle in the Sky was and excellent film.

I'd build it inside the Louvre (God I hope I spelled that right)
Maybe behind the mona lisa? and dedicated to art and culture?

Indeed it was, as are all of Miyazaki's films if you ask me.
All the ones I've seen I've liked (although Kiki's Delivery Service is the weakest out of them - the ones I've seen anyway)
My favourite is Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind, it was the first I saw and my first choice since.

I can't believe no one said they would build it on mars.
That was actually my first idea for where there should be a rapture in space.

Yeah Nausicaa is a great film, my favourites are probably My neighbor Totoro, Spirited away and Howl's moving castle.

I haven't seen My Neighbor Totoro, but I love the other two. I think Spirited Away is just astonishing. The line-up of the pigs, that weird black thing, the whole concept is stunning.

You should watch Totoro, it has a lovely charm to it, and I agree, Spirited away is magnificent.
