As cosplay is seemingly becoming more mainstream (Although male cosplayers such as myself are REALLY being overlooked as "The Cool Kids of Cosplay"*) I was thinking, if it was socially acceptable to dress up, everywhere you went, would you do it? I mean for me, I do actually love to occasionally go to central london dressed as Tim Drakes' Robin for no reason**, But part of the fun for me is that it makes other, more prudish people uncomfortable, whilst I stride around in spandex and boots with a big grin on my face, feeling like a B-list superhero. And when I do spiderman, Damn. Comic store plus random guy dressed as spiderman equals tremendous lolage for everyone involved. I guess that given the choice, I'd like people to accept cosplay as something not exclusive to "Gayfags lol"***, But I'd still like it to be something only a few people would do for no apparent reason. Because I'm an attention whore of the highest level.

But yeah, your (Hopefully less complicated and/or stupid) Opinions.

*YES, I AM BUTTHURT
**I do however have a long list of mental health problems
***Oh, and hot scantily clad women. Damn those sexy half naked women...

I would probably do it for occasions or something, but not everywhere. Cosplaying usually implies you are assuming another identity. I'd rather be myself if I can help it.

I'd only really do something subtle.
Last time I cosplayed my wig was constantly annoying me, it got so frizzy and knotty.
I don't think I could handle the stares and the pointing either, it's drag me down after a while.

I am wanting to make a pair of Harley Quinn style jeans (think Arkham City) so I'll definitely wear them in public.

The good looking stuff is hideously expensive, and the costumes often provide poor protection from the environment...Not a winning combination.

Also, as I'm sure you're keenly aware, some of the spandex gets a bit...immodest.

Nah cosplayers look tacky most of the time so wearing those costumes outside of conventions and the like would just be weird.

I have no shame in cosplaying in public

NO SHAME

But considering I've done it twice, I'm not one to say others should/could do it

Do your own thing, I guess!

I kinda already cosplay as my Commander Shepard in public because of my hoodie. For more drastic stuff though, it depends. A full spartan suit during the colder months? Why the fuck not. During summer though traveling light is key.

Well I think it would be cool for me to dress up as my characters from certain games or characters I liked but overall no (well sometime).

First thing, it will be far too expensive to dress up different character since I know it will be boring to stick to one character all the time. Also to cosplay properly you need makeup or hair gel etc to add the extra detial which again will cost alot.

Second thing cosplay is all about look and not being practical like if I were to wear it and it rain, I will be soaking wet since I was not wearing a rain coat!

If you do it ALL THE TIME it stops being special . Sure people might notice you for the first 2 days , but then they would stop caring . Sounds counter productive if your an attention whore . Things like that are only noteworthy when you do it occasionally .

As for me , i wouldn't cosplay ever . I like anime , and jrpgs , and superheros and stuff but no. Cosplaying for me is a rediculous past time , it's basically adults playing dress up . Coming from a guy who is used to people telling me to grow up since i play videogames and shrug , i find cosplayif is extreamly immature and childish . It's the equivalent of saying "let's play pretend ".

Now i am not judging people who cosplay , do what you want and enjoy yourselves , but it isn't for me , at all . Hell i tend to avoid cosplayers all together . Except on halloween .

Actually on a completly unrelated note , i have yet to find a female who cosplays that i found interesting to talk to , periode . It's all kawaii uguu weebo look how cultures i am ,japanese wanna be people ,who actually think everyone in japans acts like what they see in anime , i guess i'm just unlucky and/or biased.

I have just pictured myself walking into a boardroom meeting dressed like Rogue from The X-Men.
Yes - we should be able to cosplay all the time because the results would be amazing!

If I had the right combination of time, money, skill and attention span to make an epic cosplay I would wear it everywhere. Essentially if I was this guy:

Otherwise, yeah it's more of a special occasions thing. Plus most doors aren't really wide enough for Space Marines.

This seems appropriate for hot weather to me...

... What? Oh. Wrong Spartans.

OT: A qualified yes. Doing cosplay right takes a lot of time and energy.

I already do but only normal looking stuff (like my Persona 4 jacket). Though it would make everyday more interesting to see other people like that.

Yes, but lightly. Not full on. I might wear twin longswords one day and a necklace the next. A bloody straitjacket the next day.

I'd happily go around as Nightcrawler, however the last time I did this was with liquid latex on my face which was not a great idea in hindsight...Even if it did look amazing.
