All this doing things in the dark, unaccountable to its people bothers the shit out of me.

'The crazies' is the perfect example of this.
I wouldnt have minded a city extermination plan if it is world news.

Marketing, those bastards pretty much lie to our faces to make a quick buck. In gaming, sometimes more money is spent on marketing a game than spent on actually DEVELOPING it (see Modern Warfare 2).

What's wrong with prostitution? If some women have to do it, they have to do it. It's not something you grow up wanting to do but if you need money then what makes money better than sex? I hate people who talk about prostitutes as if they are lesser people. The people buying the sex are worse in my opinion.

Yeah, a friend of mine. When she was fourteen her mother wanted to remarry. The problem was that the mother wanted to change the second name of her daughter to that of her fiance's (Smith). My friend is Japanese and was deeply proud of her second name and didn't want to break the connection off with her father (who was no longer interested in seeing her) so she ran away to London where she lived with some older friends. She needed to support herself financially however when she turned sixteen so she went into prostitution. It wasn't something she wanted to do originally obviously.

Thanks for sharing. I can totally understand where she (and you) are coming from. I do/did agree with your opinion that the prosititues aren't the/a problem and that the only people that should be judged are the clients. I just wondered where your opinion originated.

Seconded. When the law needs an expert to interpret it then it's clear that the law is too complicated. The solution is not to build an entire profession around the law, the solution is to simplify the law so that the man in the street can understand it.

Man, how I hate solder and all those people that solder for a living. They really grate me.
Went for marketing but I don't think any are that bad, they're all necessary in the world we live in. With the exception of prostitution, though for many girls in that profession it's the only way they can support themselves.

Interesting historical fact. Modern democracy claims to be based on the original Greek democracy, but in Greek democracy representatives weren't elected, rather they were called up for service kindof like jury duty. They weren't the "best" or the "most popular" or the "brighest", they were just ordinary Joes. Big issues were voted on, but for the most part the democratic Grecian city states were run by Joes.

Now there were some positivie changes, like allowing women to vote, but the modern democratic system, with "career politicians" and "parties" is the biggest and worst corruption of the original concept, and is an abomination.
