Biologically speaking, if you are gay, there is something wrong with you. Change it.
Since when have we humans ever let something as trivial as our biology get in our way?

I want my son to relate to me, and vice versa, so I'd definitely go for the option of making sure my kid is straight as a ruler. His life would be so much easier, specially in his younger years, he'll be more widely accepted, and I would avoid feeling awkward when he takes his boyfriend home.

Addendum: if my gay kid think I'm going to condone his gay wedding, he's got another thing coming, so it may be in his best interests to be born straight.

Also, to those saying homosexuality is a choice: it's not. It's not necesarily genetic, but it's not a choice either. I don't choose whether I like coffee or not, I just know I like it. Same thing with men and women.

I do not support modification of genes to start with. I also think that being gay is a choice and you are not born with it.
I'm genuinely curious about what you're basing that on, please explain it to me.
I do not see how "were meant to be a female, but was born as a man" works out. So you are saying you are a woman, but have the wrong reproductive organs? If that's so, then why were you not born the other gender? It seems to (me, at least) be an excuse for being having a traditionally out of the ordinary preference. If you were born that way, who can blame you?

If I had the choice, I would go with strait offspring. I would also go with hard working, perfect vision, amazing reflexes, and low body hair, if I had the choice. That being said I would not be overly upset if nature handed me a baby that did not fit my desires.

It'll start with the option to change orientation then sex, then physical buildup, then nobody will want their baby if it won't be a mmusclebound macho man or a hot lady.

You're confusing transexuals with homosexuals, they are completely different.

I thought the gay community as a whole was very open and accepting, but according to a lot of people here standing up for them, would not accept someone in their community if they chose to be gay and weren't born like that. I, on the other hand, believe they would accept them with open arms, as that would be more people to help them fight for their rights as human beings.

I don't see why people who choose to be gay are less gay then people born that way. Seems like a bigoted position to me.

EDIT: Aw, come on, someone has to touch this one!

I am straight and have nothing at all against gays, but if I could choose, then I would want my kid to be straight.

please do not have any children. progressives are already epically failing at out-breeding backwater communities with ethics from a bygone era.

Well I certainly don't think it's a conscious decision, even if there aren't genes for it. Factors in the environment are the biggest determinants in sexuality. It's like taste in music, or favorite foods. Certain genes may (and probably do) guide us slightly towards a particular preference. For example, I like metal. I can't explain why, it just works for me. But I also like the Beatles, because my friend is a huge fan and turned me on to them. I was predisposed to think that certain sounds were pleasant, and I learned to like others.

That being said, I wouldn't choose the genes for my child. But I'd raise them in a way that promoted what I think is "normal". (And I use that term very lightly-there's nothing wrong with being gay)

i am so confused as to why TWENTY-SEVEN PERCENT of straight readers would choose to genetically alter their child to make them straight! i mean, i get that many of you are trying to protect your children from a judgmental society, but isn't the ethically correct route to alter society and not your children? diversity is kind of necessary for progress, you know.

Well I'd hope that in the future we finally lose all the bigotry and it wouldn't fucking matter what sexual oreintation your kids were.

I'm straight btw.

Where is the option for the fact Homosexuality is a choice, not a matter genes.
EDIT: Ok perhaps it is genes, but people can overcome genes.
not really, i mean, there isn't exactly a pill for homosexuality like there is for heart failure or something.

Maybe you could prove this to all of us by becoming a homosexual then.

Wouldn't care much. Although it could give me a heads up on what clothes to buy them when they're growing up. Dresses if they're boys, and lumberjack attire if they're girls.

The lightly hood of all of society accepting homosexuality is less than 0. I can understand the choice.
