Star Trek may have become worse and worse as entertainment, but atleast being a civilian in ST doesn't suck.

ST is just about the only sci-fi setting that is utopian. Makes for a more boring story, but that was not the question in the poll.

So many people who choose Star wars instead, but that would be pure living hell on most planets and everywhere during Dark side eras.

I'd go with the Mass Effect universe, even with the impending doom that's been looming. Although the Foundation's universe from Isaac Asimov's novels does intrigue me. If only the Mule wasn't there. ^_^

System shock, though most creepiest game, and horrifying, i would finally experience something. And i would be a good hacker and have a neural military implant....
How cool is that!

Definately Mess Effect, but it's a bit of a double edged sword isn't it? I mean i would like to exist in that universe but then not as a collonist, scientist, mercenay, pirate, biotic, Slave, Alliance Marine or pretty much any human, since they all seem to either get killed or have to grapple with the impending potential destruction of the Galaxy.

Great.

Come on people, there are soooo many hot chicks left on the battlestar galactica. And if all else fails, there's a few hot Cylons to choose from. Some are even Supermodels (but, unfortunately, Canadian)!

Galactica, Mainly because it's essentially the same universe we're in anyway...Plus you're most likely to actually do shit. and not just be "nameless, faceless NPC"
That was my reason for not chosing Galctica - most people are just cramped onto ships and don't do anything except maybe die.

I'd prefer to be in Star Trek just because it would be easier to become someone who 'did' stuff.

Agreed response: The Mass Effect universe is acceptable, As long as this one can stay as an Elcor.

One word: Batman.
And don't ask me how Batman counts as sci-fi, because I just finished a comic book in which Batman traveled to the future, and some time ago I read about him, Superman and other heroes having a JLA HQ in space.

Definitely the Culture. Completely hedonistic society with the resources to provide everyone with whatever they want? Count me in. Oh yeah, and fucking massive amounts of firepower too.

Other universes would be better if you get to pick who/what you are, but Culture is best for being randomly thrown in. (I can't compare to Star Trek though, since I don't know much of the lore. Maybe it's better)

Also: Ghost in the Shell, really? I'm watching through the second season now, and so far, everybody who isn't at the top levels of government is a proletariat dupe under the control of a totalitarian state that almost completely controls the media.

The Culture, it's utopian so it'd be amazing, but if I do get bored (unlikely) then I can always join Contact/Special Circumstances and fuck up some aliens.

The closest from the poll would be the Star Trek universe, which isn't as utopian and the Federation isn't as scary as The Culture Ships.

Firefly.
I would like to live on one of the central planets and write. I'm not one for heroic adventures or anything, and I'm certainly no thief. I wouldn't mind being on a ship like a firefly though. That'd be neat.
