Seeing as allot of people aren't from the UK, I'd think I am being followed, so I'd run... Only kidding, if it was Indigo Dingo, I'd run!

I'd just say, "Nerd." Ward off their impending hug attempts, and walk away.

There is a very wide range of possible responses, anything from "Greet joyfully!" to "Beat to death with a shoe."
Ah ha! Your shoe, versus my pointy stick! Let's dance.
I'm putting my money on you getting beaten to death with that shoe.
But that's just me.

Anyway, I'd speak to them, yeah.
And be confused as to how in the fuck they knew who I was.

That'd be awesome! I'd suggest that we exchange phone numbers and hang out some time. But I have yet to meet an Escapist who lives near Manchester D=

I already know Hey Joe. We organised to meet each other a while back (hats being the signifier at the meeting), passed each other by at a nearby bookshop without noticing, then played bowling and pool. I sucked at bowling, but pulled out my 1337 p001 5ki11z.
We're now BFF. We totally see each other like once every couple of months. We're that tight.

I guess I'd offer a handshake, or a manhug, or just have a decent conversation about philosophy, and something else intelligent. Last thing I would want is to talk about Zero Punctuation, or forum badges outside of the computer.

Same if the person is a female. Hug, or any form of greeting, and chat. Then be on my way.

Except if it were La-le, I'd have to summon my Hellhounds if that were the case. :)

If it were say, Max. Then I'd probably give a greeting, learn a few things, play a few games, battle for my soul, and be on my way.

If it was someone who I've conversed with on a regular occasion I would totally drag them out to a pub, if they were of appropriate age and not NewClassic, who does not drink.

It's not likley i would be recognised by people on the escapist. And i'm even less likley to approach them/he/she/it first,as i'm more of an introvert.

If the Escapist IRC chats are insane...imagine what a large group of escapists would be like?

Treat like any other human being I meet while walking down (or up) the street.

Draw your conclusions from that.

I would probably say hi, how is it goin, can I have your E-mail or someother form of contact and then say I have to leave for a date with my girlfriend, so talk to you soon. And if this guy was a creep and started following me, well lets just say I always have a knife with me for a reason.

First I need to know more about this "Real Life" place...
If I where there I'd probably not even notice them unless they cause a huge uproar

If they're friendly on the forum, I'll say hi and see how friendly they're in real life. Although I don't think s/he'd say hi, even if they did recognize me. Who'd want to talk to a weird, nerdy 15-year old?

How do you know you haven't? Do you walk up to people you are about to meet and announce you are a member? How do you know if a co worker isn't a member? Is being a member something that comes up in casual conversations IRL?
