Well, NaNoWriMo asks you to do 50000 words in 30 days, and in my experience that's about 100 words. I'd do it, no problem, no question. That's a ton of money and a fairly moderate time investment.

Well, if it needs to be good, then editing'd be the killer. That's what takes forever.

Of course. It probably wouldn't be any good but I'd try :p
It would be something about the nature of reality probably, most likely played from the perspective of an ordinary man becoming increasingly insane as the story progressed.

I think most of the people that are nerds and type well have written a "novel" at least once in their life. I should really get around to writing mine so I can post it somewhere and people can tell me how bad I am :p

300 pages= 1.5 years, not just one...

but otherwise yes, and in fact im writing, "the amazing james maxxen"

i love the apocalyptic fiction subgenre so take a guess.

(basically space gods come to earth, but do to some ancient spell, they have to turn off "god-mode", but that STILL results in them kicking our ass)

I mean, nobody's going to give you that much money without something ahead of time.

BUT. If it did happen, a collection of short stories. They wouldn't be that good, but I'd do my very best~ (mostly because I'd feel like a filthy thief if I didn't.)

If a book publisher offered you $500,000 to write a book thats at least 300 pages long and had 1 year to do it, Would you agree to write one? What would it be about?
Considering I wrote a 200 page first draft of a novel for NaNoWriMo essentially on a whim in 20 days, having an actual financial incentive to write one would definitely be enough to get it done, I'd say, yes. The editing process could be sticky and take time, but writing the book, I'd be driven as hell.

This is a fantasy opportunity. No way I'd pass it up.

Of course. I'd probably use a story idea I've had for a while.

The book would suck, granted, but I'd get paid either way, right?

A comedy about a guy who would get 500 grand if he wrote a 300 page book within a year.

I'd just keep a daily journal and collect my half million at the end of the year. They've got reality television, why not reality books?

I chose "maybe" because i'm an indecsisive bastard.

But if presented with the opportunity, and if there were no consequences for failure (aside from not being paid, obviously), i'd take it. Currently i'm not in shape to write books, but i'll surely feel better someday, which means i could actually get it done.

The book itself would probably contain several short stories set in utterly ridiculous future.

Yes but I would have to work a lot harder. I started a book a little while ago and only have about fifty pages in four months. Its about vampires....Wait wait hear me out here, don't go to the next comment yet. Its sort of inspired by a lot of different video games and Anime. Its about Vampire Hunters who are always going to be eighteen due to their abilities, and the challenges they face each day. Its largely going to be like Neon Genesis Evangelion in the whole child savior department. But thats just the gist of it, I have like three really good plot twists to put in it.

I'm going to assume that's a blog book? Didn't think about that, and I'm glad that this is my first exposure to such a concept. Does make me feel a little old though, still thinking in terms of TV and books.

Yes, it's a book from a blog. It's what came to mind when you said you'd turn your journal in as a book.
