I saw some gameplay videos, and while it's probably more of the same it looks like fun, there are different, more interesting ways to approach your missions (also dat auto crossbow), and the new villain is pretty cool.

so how excited are you for fc4, and what are you looking forward to?

I did enjoy Far Cry 3, and I can imagine the next game will be fun, but I won't be getting it as I really don't want to give Ubisoft more of my money. I wish to cease supporting DRM practices entirely, to be honest. There may be the slightest exception in regards to Steam (though I do dislike Steam) but I'm going to try and stick to my guns here. Plenty of people say vote with your wallet, and I'm going to comply.

Meh.

I remember being interested in FC3.

Sadly, I also remember actually playing FC3. An utterly vanilla shooter with added commute, a video-game-quality story so stupid that the developers later tried to pass it off as a parody and a fun villain who occasionally pokes his nose into a cutscene to remind me how much more interesting he made the trailers look, before dropping out of the game and being replaced by someone I can't remember.

Haven't seen squat to suggest that FC4 will be any different. Consequently, FC4 is consigned to the "Only Buy For A Twenty Or Less" list.

Me getting excited about it would be like me walking into a supermarket, picking up packet of napkins off a shelf and going, "Holy shit everybody! I found a packet of napkins! It's a packet! With folded tissue paper inside! I can use them to wipe my hand and lower face after eating! This is so amazing!"

I'm more excited for it than for any other first-person shooter, but then that's not saying a lot.

Just like Far Cry 3 it looks like a fun enough open-world shooter. Let's hope they cut back a bit on the crafting nonsense though - It's seriously starting to clog up Ubi's games.

Out of all the games I'm looking forward to this year, I'd put it somewhere down near the bottom of like seven games. It looks like Far Cry 3 with more and a shiny new coat of paint. I much rather look forward to Inquisition or Beyond Earth.

A shooter has to be something really special to get me interested. The only far Cry that kind of looked interesting was blood dragon

It looks okay. It is certainly a very large game, but the setting just doesn't interest me as much as it did in Far Cry 3. Sure, in Far Cry 3 it was a fairly generic jungle, but in 4 it just looks too grey. One other thing was that Vaas caught my attention almost immediately because he was funny, but the new guy just seems like a psychopath.

Still waiting for more info on Blood Dragon 3: Vietnam War 2.

Apart from that I'm firmly with Yahtzee on hype, blame DA2 for that one.

I am pretty psyched for it! I loved the gameplay of FC3 and am looking forward to exploring a new world. Hopefully there will be a few more interesting and memorable areas in this one... not just road/forrest/hill again. More interesting waterfalls, ruins, villages, statues, temples and the likes! The setting should lend to this more suitably this time, so here's hoping!

I may also pre-order too. The only issue I have is that I don't have internet access for my XBox, so I can't redeem pre-order bonuses... but damn that Harpoon Gun looks sweet! :p

Well hell fucking yeah I'm excited for Far Cry 4.

Looking forward to more awesome stealth assaults being interrupted by rampaging wildlife. Also looking forward to more explosive arrow action, loved that thing.

Also wingsuit plus the Himalayas.... Yes please.

I'm in the glad it's going to exist, but need to play Far Cry 3 and Blood Dragon first. (Bought it nearly 6 months ago cheaply, couldn't really tell you why I haven't got around to playing more of it (apart from too many games generally))

Funnily enough I'm in the opposite camp. I loved the African setting in FC2 but the island in FC3 doesn't seem particularly exciting to me. For all its design bugs, FC2 felt like you were in the middle of a war zone in a country where everything had gone to shit. In contrast FC3 seemed a bit too idyllic (but again I've only played about 5 hours worth), especially after playing Just Cause 2, which seemed to do that kind of region better. I feel like I've not seen many games set in the Himalayas so it could be interesting.

Can I play as my character? No? Fuck off. I have absolutely no faith in Ubi doing a non-wanker protagonist for Farcry.

Yep. I loved Far Cry 3 and this sequel looks like it's going to be something similar. Hopefully it lives up to its predecessor.

Far Cry 3 was fun for a while, it gets repetitive quickly: go here, take over that tower, take over those camps, rinse rinse and repeat.
I hope they brought more things to do into this game.

Looks interesting, I like the Himalayan setting and they seem to be doing something less underlyingly racist for a story this time.

It'll likely suffer from the standard Ubisoft problems with a lack of real iteration, an open world that really doesn't need to be that open and a plot that takes itself far too seriously.

Nope ... also sorry, that last voting option was too awesome! XD

Anyway, I was quite disappointed with Far Cry 3, mostly because I'm a picky person who studies writing and loved at what it promised, but did not do, especially when it came to a certain awesome character.

That and I felt quite bored, compared to Far Cry 2 at least.
The main protagonist, who was suppose to be a young traveller, instantly had the best skills with weapons. I would rather if they had a level system, where you level up and Jason's skills get better.

All right. All right. FINALLY!

OT:
I left the island...but the island never left me...

...An now, a Gurkha giving people the good news in the Himalayas? And he gets a tiny helicopter to zoom about in? This is marvellous, simply marvellous!
