I need some serious help deciding which console i'm going to get.

I purchased an xbox 360 on February 3rd 2006, which died last week. Making her over 4 and a half years old. A long life to be sure. Probably a world record. (in jest)

So here i stand. No console. HOWEVER! I don't just want your personal opinions. I do have some important information for you to consider.

1: I have friends whom i will be moving in with in a couple months, who both have xbox's, and love to system link.
2: I have a ton of xbox and xboxlive games purchased, and over a year of subscription to live.
3: I have a girlfriend who plays Reach with me.
4: But, nobody has a blu-ray player.
5: They both already have xbox's...

6: There are a ton of games i want to play. A 360 would miss out on ...
the Ratchet and Clank games
Team Ico games SOTC, ICO and The Last Guardian
God of War
Killzone
Little Big Planet
Resistance
I might be interested in Uncharted...
7: A Ps3 would miss out on....
....none?
But a lot of the other games i'm interested in are coming out for both systems.

SO given my situation what do you guys think i should get? PS3 or 360?

My Xbox 360 lasted 3 years.

I got a new one right after it died. I prefer my Xbox to my PS3 though. I'd go with the 360, even if you miss out on a few games.

That was helpful how?

Edit: Ah right, I didn't see the poll option.

OT: If they've got two 360's, then I definitely suggest going with the PS3.

You seem to have a preference for it as far as I can tell anyway.

Sooooo.... what you're saying is....

as the poll options get closer to kitty they get stupider? Sooooooo PS3?
That wasn't the intent, but I guess you could interpret it that way.

I read your post, then I read the poll options. As soon as I saw the 3rd option, all rational thought vanished and all I could say was "KITTY!"

Right the main points in favour of the xbox seem to be
1. Girlfriend plays reach with you(Huge pun right there but we'll ignore that :p)
2. Loads of xbox games already bought + Live

1. If she plays online rather than coop then yeah you lose control over who plays what game and the flatmates choose but if you are planning to all use the same tv it would be a similar problem anyway even if you bought a new xbox.

2 is easily solved because as long as you don't mind losing save games you can just import your live id to your friends xbox and use that to play your games.

The thing is the way the new setup will be means you can use your friend xboxs whenever a new game comes out or you girlfriend want to play and if you were to get a ps3 you would have all the exclusives available to both consoles.(Plus bluray if you have a hd tv and are into that)

Tl;Dr Get the ps3

I can't make a suggestion for either, I am heavily biased towards 360, but since PS3 is getting mass effect, go nuts on either(although you can't get the best experience out of ME2 without ME1, unless they let you choose who you had a relationship with :S). Most games come out for both systems, just don't get a wii. By the way, friends don't like to share consoles(at least mine don't).

I would go with PS3 because it sounds like you are wanting to go with that but you are still comfortable with 360 since you had one and so does everyone around you.
Be different! and if all else fails, you can get a 360 for your GF for Christmas. ;)

Although the kitty is the far best choice- you should get an xbox for the live, the friends interaction, and a girlfriend that won't complain your playing video games instead of hanging out with her is a HUGE reason to get it.

I like how you list "none" under games that the PS3 would miss out on, despite listing Reach as something you play with your girlfriend.

Anyway, I love my PS3, I really do, but it sounds like you'd be better off with a 360. Half of the exclusives you list are overrated (you can guess which ones) as is Blu-ray capability, though it is pretty sexy at times.

An important factor: what kind of TV will you be playing on with your friends?

PS3, that is all...

After going through 4 shitbox 360's in 5 years I cannot be bothered to waste another fucking cent on microsofts crap hardware.

Sounds like want a PS3. But if you already have a large 360 library, then I don't know. Can I wuss out and say get both? Buy the 360 new because you want that warranty, but eBay search for PS3s (and be patient, that's the key).

First, my girlfriend owns Reach and a 360. And my friends are sharing a copy between them. So it is none.

Second, i have a Vizio 22 inch 1080p LCD tv 120htz.....

Hmmm, I own a 360 myself. And I prefer it as a superior console, pretty much because gameplay wise it is the superior one. And that isn't me being a fanboy, it's the truth. The PS3 only holds up better in terms of the power it has when it comes to graphics and sound and whatnot. Even reliability isn't an issue, the RRoD is simply more publicised, the PS3 also has it's own problems, as does pretty much every console (save the Wii, that thing is built like a useful, working, brick...), and even PCs (BSoD anyone?).

So yeah, normally I would say get a new Xbox, especially as you already have the games for it. However, considering your situation, that there are already Xbox's in the house, I think you should get the PS3. Because you can still play the games you have on your housemates' consoles (if they let you), and you'll then get all the added benefits of the PS3 (like a Blu-ray player, for example) and new games you couldn't otherwise play. There'll be plenty of time after that to save up for a new Xbox as well for yourself, in addition to the PS3... and thn you benefit both ways, right? :D
