A lightsaber blade is actually a small amount of plasma, the 4th phase of matter, contained by a magnetic field. This gives it a cylindrical shape and limits it to around 3 or 4 feet in length. This also explains why lightsabers can't cut through each other.

Can a lightsaber cut Adamantium? Superman?

Yes, as a lightsaber can only not cut the metal cortosis. Sorry Superman you need a new suit like the one for kryptonite.
Part of Superman's resilience comes from what amounts to a forcefield. Although the concept of a forcefield is not exactly science it would present a unique challenge to lightsabre as it would be of a similar design to the weapons itself.

Which would make our very own comissar Hero of The Imperium run faster (assuming there's no-one of consequence to witness it): coming face-to-face with a Genestealer, or being on the business end of a plasma pistol wielded by a Chaos Sorcerer?
Well that depends on if commisar Yarrick stand behind him or not.
Because if so he would run toward the genestealer/Chaos Sorcerer.
What wouldn't make him run are my necrons, they would disintegrate him.

I say totally to the laser eyes.
I beg to differ, sir. Lightsabres deflect blaster bolts, clouds of ionized "Blaster gas". Superman's heat vision is simply an area of accelerated molecules, with no more/less charge than normal air, thus his heat vision would most likely not be deflected by the sabre.

Why is Boba Fett so cool? He did basically nothing in the movies yet he is some badass.

BTW I do think he's badass too I'm just wondering why.
His action figure was one of the rarest.

In the "Empire Strikes Back" why, when evacuating Hoth, did the rebels head straight for the Imperial ships rather than in a different direction entirely?
They had to escape Hoth's gravity in order to make the hyperspace jump. The fastest way to do this was to go straight up, and if they tried to escape via a different vector it would simply give the Star Destroyers time to lock on and fire. Also, their proximity to an Imperial cruiser made other ships in the fleet far less likely to fire on them.

Who gave a green light to the One More Day storyline for Spider-Man? For they must suffer horribly.
Joe Quesada. The editor in chief of Marvel, and he didn't just greenlight it. He DEMANDED it. The writer only made it because of his contract, and he asked for his name to be removed from the piece... Understandabley. Yeah, and you thought that only Lucas could kill a franchise.

If Superman is invincible, how can Kryptonite hurt him?
I apologise for being the, ooh, I dunno, tenth person to correct you on this, but I promis I'll do a better job than the others. The sun stuff you already know, but he is also vulnerbale to magic and, in the 80s, a kryptonian superweapons called Darkside, a snot green yeti, beat him to death with its bare hands. Superman died... And got better.

Actually, there's also Mandalorian Iron, Neuranium, Phrik, Ultrachrome and anything treated with Sith Alchemy. God bless Wookieepedia.

Edit: My apologies for how that came out, Behatted Wanderer. This many quotes a difficult to keep track of.

Using the fictional cement of "the force".

seriously, couldn't the lightsaber be imbued with the force to distort the reality to put a limit on the length of the blade? but probably there's a complex piece of tech that inhibits the length somehow.

Because the lightsabers read the script?

This one has always, always bugged me.
Apparently real world attempts to make lightsabers resulted in this - the blade continued into the distance before the whole thing exploded.

A parsec is a unit of distance not time, how did the Millennium Falcon make the Kessel run in less than 12?
the Kessel system is a dense asteroid field layered with mines and warships. The fastest and most dangerous way around is to go right through it, a distance of twelve parsecs.

Who would win, X or Y? (Common favorites: Goku, Alex Mercer, Master Chief, Kratos, Godzilla, Optimus Prime, etc...)
if it had a kryptonite focusing crystal then yes. also mercer all the way, he'll just eat everyone else (probably have to get godzilla FROM THE INSIDE)

Having viewed the poll results, the 55 people who answered Greedo should thank their lucky stars that A) I don't know who you are and B) you cannot punch people in the face via the internet. Because I would totally be doing that now otherwise!

For shame people, seriously. Han shot first, never forget!

If Mercer Eats Kratos, does Kratos go back to Hades? At which point, does Kratos just come back?

all matter exerts a gravitational force. space is the absence of matter.
hmm, as I had it explained to me, it isn't so much that matter exerts a gravitational field, as space pushes/pulls gravity together. Also, it is really hard to say exactly how much space exists, what with certain quantum theories these days showing how there really is very little space as we know it.

Wrong, the Jedi/Sith who wield them use the Force to manipulate the blade's length.

wow
a bit of a question there,
look up Einstein's theory of relativity
(there are two though, and i cant remember which on it is)
