I guess I'm a blend of both. I'd like to think I'm optimistic, but people around me would say otherwise.

claiming your pessimistic view to be realistic makes you a pessimist.

funnily enough, claiming your pessimistic view to be pessimistic makes you a realist.

I don't like the idea of both equally. I am more a realist than either, is the glass half empty or half full? Well if you filled it up to half it is half full, if you emptied some out to get half, then it is half empty.

Generally optimistic these days. But I think like everyone, I have my moments where I'm just not feelin' it.

Optimism has a positive impact on one's outcomes, so I try to do that.

Of course, I'm not very successful.

But when I'm not depressed to hell, I take a circular logic bit of optimism: "I'll succeed because I have to succeed." It doesn't make any sense, but it's gotten me through the last 3 semesters.

I expect the worse to come out of a situation, and I rarely expect the best, so mostly pessimistic.

I think I'm more pessimistic than optimistic.

Granted it's not like I dread for the failure or the worst outcome, it just won't suprise me when it does happen so I wouldn't complain about it (if it happens, it happens).

People confuse realism with pessimism and read me as that. It's not accurate, to my mind, though.

I'm all for reaching for the stars, but you gotta keep your feet on the ground. So to speak.

I'm an optimist with a hint of pessimism.

Of course, when I am pessimistic I'm down right cynical.

But yeah, yay team optimism.

That sounds more like fatalism than pessimism to me.

On Topic: I have become increasingly pessimistic ever since I became sick five years ago.

I think I'm optimistic.
I never really expect much good to happen, but then I look at most situations from a "Hey, could be worse" perspective.

Nine out of ten times, whenever something unexpected/out of the ordinary happens, it's for the worse. Not necessarily BAD, but let's just say serendipity is in short supply in this life. Not that it is too much of a bother. For someone who spends more time trying to understand the theories that try to sort of almost not really explain everything (a unified theory is nowhere to be found as of yet, so that's probably why) than doing something useful, like say get a job, or go to a university or something, the worst things to happen on a personal level tend to seem quite insignificant, when compared to the stuff that goes on everywhere, all the time.

So it seems the point is that yeah, going to have to say pessimistic. And cynical. And probably nihilistic as well.

Optimist. Not that I put high hopes on everything, but I always like to keep an open mind. Yeah, some (some might say most) things in life or society can suck, but it makes great moments shine all the more brighter. As long as you learn from the bad stuff instead of dwell on them, I think you may find life worth living. That, and I always prefer a more positive atmosphere than a negative one.

Really? Because you always seem like someone who'd be entirely optimistic... [sub][sub][sub]and also a bit insane[/sub][/sub][/sub][sub][sub][sub][sub] Like the joker XD[/sub][/sub][/sub][/sub]

OT: I guess optimistic? I don't really know, just that I'm not pessimistic.

A bit of both.
My general mantra is the expect the worst to happen, and hope that things will turn out average. But maybe, sometimes more often than not, things will turn out spectacular.

I'm a hell of an optimist, I pretty much think about anything bad and eventually i'll be able to draw at something positive out of it. I dunno why, it's just in my nature I suppose. Maybe I just assume things will get better, i've learned that a lot of shit can happen within the space of a year at least. If that means anything
