i would by sniper rifles and play the game they play in ROmero's Dawn of the Dead, where they shoot zombies that vaguely resemble celebrities. that would be cool.

If I destroy the stairs there is no chance they'll get up here, and I can walk from roof to roof, use other staircases and raid the supermarkets. There's probably no chance of getting weapons as the possibilities to buy them here are very limited, so I'll have to wait for the military to get me. First i'd gather information: How fast can they move? Do i really need to destroy the head to kill them? Can i make out if their bloot is infectious?
After i studied the new zombies, i'd assume zombies and humans my enemies and arm myself with the best possible way to kill both (in my case i'd use a cooking knife ducktaped to the end of a broom and a wooden board as a shield). No weapons like chainsaws or guns.. they create to much splatter (risk of infection), too much noise and are too heavy.
Then i'd gather as much protection and supplies as i can from the nearby environment.
After that (if im still alive) i'd try to grow food on the roof of my house, collect rainwater and wait until most people are dead. Then i'd rebuild society according to my ideals.
