Poll: In Metacritic we trust.

There's a lot of promising titles on the horizon.

Simple question: Which of the following games will score the highest Metacritic average in your opinion?

Now remember there's a lot of factors to behold here that could influence a rating: Commercial appeal, platform support (money that is put in to promote a console), connection to popular review sites with advertising etc etc.

I'm quite fond of checking review scores, not because I trust them or think that games can be represented nummerically but because there's this bizarre competition in the internet with fanboys crying over .1 of a percent. Number quessing is fun, like guessing the lottery!

So which will score highest and what sort of scores do you think they'll get? Tried to find titles that will be released rather soon and haven't had a lot of reviews posted yet.

Anyway, I'd say God Of War III. Safe but good.

92 average.

Ha! What a shallow and flawed prediction! A monkey could have guessed better! We all know God of War will get atleast a 93! Only a 92 for such a title would be an outrage! Outrage I say!

Metacritic doesn't offer an opinion. All it does is take a weighted average of all the reviews and normalize it.
Went with God of War 3. But I think that Heavy Rain (judging from the reviews so far), Bad Company, and GT5 all have a decent shot at the title.

My opinion of Crackdown 2 and Alan Wake has a pretty high margin of error because I've not played Crackdown and have almost no idea what Alan Wake is.

well-known IP with high-scoring previous titles
generic enough mechanics
lots of focus on graphics technology
"edgy" (but not enough to make anyone uncomfortable)
easy enough for a retard to complete on lowest difficulty
accompanied by a lot of advertising money and hype

That's almost all the boxes you want to check for a high score from mainstream press review-bots. Bad Company 2 is another decent guess that also has multiplatform going for it. GT5 third place - it's too specialized and too skill-based.

The only thing I'm sure of is Heavy Rain and Alan Wake will not get the top spot. I'm pretty certain Gran Turismo wouldn't either since the highest ranking games tend not to be racing games.

What do I think will score highest? Probably God of War III. Though I am most looking forward to Heavy Rain.

God of War, just because it's so highly anticipated that every Playstation loving reviewer out there has a gigantic boner for it and absolutely will not be let down by the game. That being said, it will probably still be the best game out of those you listed.
