Then why make a thread, fucking imbecile.
So I could hear what people thought? Now move along please... Also don't be rude. ¬_¬
If you're going to ignore people that disagree, I don't see the point. I'm not being rude either, I'm stating the obvious.

Interestingly, I have already made up my mind, I was simply asking what other people thought of the idea. Also being rude is still being rude, EVEN if it's the truth.

Hello again fellow escapists! I was thinking today about how often I don't wear shoes. I am a firm believer that walking barefoot toughens up your feet. Because of this I sometimes walk into town etc with no shoes on, and I have sort of earned a reputation around where I live as "That guy with no shoes". Basically I thought it would be fun to see if I could go the entire summer holidays without wearing any shoes. Do you have any thoughts? Do you think I could do it?

(I would obviously wear shoes for something important, like a funeral or something)
i actually do that too i dont like shoes at all so i do that during the summer time so yeah go for it it will be a little bit painful for a few weeks but it gets better

It's a free world(or so they say) + I do agree that waking barefoot is good and healthy(just like getting certain diseases and developing immunity). I used to do this all the time, when I was giving karate representations in public.

Oh and don't you mind what other bad people say about you! It's healthy(as long as you don't step in a piece of glass, but considering you may live in a clean place it's no worry)

You should ease your way into it. The arches of your feet would be killing you if you suddenly always walked around barefoot. You'd be at a risk of developing plantar fasciitis. There's actually a lot of people who believe in barefoot as a way of life. I'm not one, but I'm jealous of the people I see running on the beach barefoot while I'm running in my shoes.

But also keep in mind that once your feet adjust to going barefoot, shoes will be more uncomfortable and maybe even painful. And there are some occasions where not wearing shoes just isn't an option.

I spent a lot of time not wearing shoes in the summer because I'm a (lazy) lifeguard who can't be arsed with putting flip flops on and off all the time.

It's doable, I've walked around town barefoot before, and I'm in England where it's usually freezing. (So are you from your profile)
Go for it, just wash your feet when you get indoors.

I always go bare footed if i'm confident there's no glass/used needles/chewing gum/hobos.
but yeah, it feels so refreshing to not have shoes on during the hot summer.

Yeah. But, why hobos? It made me laugh when I read this, because I got an image of you trying to avoid stepping in the hobos. :]

I tripped over one. I wasn't paying attention. I was talking to my friend, and the hobo was also not paying attention, when he decided to sit more comfortably and stretch his legs the moment I wasn't looking. I gave him a sandwich and a euro after that, but I still could have infected my foot with the black plague or something

Ahaha. Yeah, I just had an image of you stepping in liquid hobo and going: "Ewwww. Hobo..." :]

What is Plantar Fascitis?
The large tendon on the bottom of your foot is your plantar fascia. Plantar fasciitis is the inflammation of that tendon. It's very painful (feels like you're walking on an intense bruise) and takes a relatively long time to heal.

I had a very bad case of it once and it forced me to cease from running (where I had been running 8 miles a day) for two months. I waited a long time before going to a doctor and had kept running with it for a long time until the pain became unbearable, normal recovery doesn't last quite that long.

If you're planning on going barefoot, I suggest looking up tips to help keep your feet healthy. It's something you don't think about until it hurts, but it is sooo frustrating.

Thanks bro. I will check this out, and be sure to try and avoid it.
