The question is simple and i want you to answer why it deserves to be the 3rd highest rated movie of all time on Imdb, or not.
I personally think its a little extreme to put it so high on Imdb so soon.

I liked the movie, but i thought it laked and was missing so much, like a proper villan who was a serious threat to the world, but instead they are just trying to take down some rival corporation of some Asian looking dude.It took a major part of the suspense and i started to think "why is this such a big deal? Its not like they are saving the world from World war 3".
And then i noticed there were a lot of Dramatic senses with Cobb's dead wife, i mean too much that it got boring. The movie was more about Cobbs dead wife and not enough about the science behind the dream technology.
But on the bright side. The action is good, the special effects are great, the character get enough development, the music is Excellent and its a very original story and a well written script. So the movie is great but it bothered me alot and got me thinking more about the bad stuff and little about the originality and greatness of the movie.

So, what do you think. I hoped you have read my little review of Inception and i hope you tell me about your thoughts of the movie and dont forget to vote on the poll.

compared to avatar which was a shallow but gorgeous movie, weak scifi and highly overrated.

inception was clever exciting unique movie great scifi it deserves any accolades it gets especially compared to some other movies (see avatar) that get way too many accolades and hype.

so is it the top 3 best movie of all time? i dunno if i would go that far, but these things will average out nevermind the rabid fanboyism that goes on on imdb with people down voting movies that threaten their favorite, see the great godfather dark knight feud that went on, with tdk fans down voting gf and gf fans retaliating and down voting tdk.

It was a fantastic movie, one of the best I have ever and probably will ever see. So you can bet your ass it deserves a high spot. It is definitely in my top 10 movies of all time, why not have it at 3.

Really? It was good... in fact it was great. But it wasn't even the best movie of 2010 and calling it the number 3 of all time is laughable. The funniest part is that it's above the Matrix, and the Matrix was 10 times better. Of course, IMDb hardly has the best rating system out there and considering the people who actually vote on these aren't exactly the most intelligent people... the fact that Terminator 2 is just under Taxi Driver and Avatar is above Let the Right One In, Network, and Annie Hall should really tell you something about the IMDb community.

EDIT: Wow, I'm such a nerd...

I agree your point on Avatar, but i thought the Sci fi in Inception was bit off, they manage to explain how the dream gizmo worked but didint explain where it came from or why anyone would invent such a thing , except military and illegal.
I think you are also right about Imdb and the rating would even out eventually.

I think part of the reason why I loved that movie was because it wasn't the kind of cliche you seemed to hope it would be. It would have been like every other movie out there if there was some big evil super villain that they needed to stop from destroying the world. As for Mal and Cobb's relationshipy stuff, I thought the emotional roller coaster was absolutely brilliant because the point is that the movie is more about them and less about the inception. It's an analytic brilliant connection between Cobb's past and the job he has to do now. Because it had just more than pure action trying to stop some large power from destroying the world is what made it an original and why it definitely deserves to be considered one of the greatest movies of all time. Then again, this is only my opinion and I don't expect myself to convert you, but that's what I think.

I never checked to see where it was rated, but it was an awesome movie. the storyline alone puts it head and shoulders above most of the 'big' movies of the year. #3.... why not.

Hey, I love Inception. I think it's one of the best movies of all time. But #3? Not really. Let's not get carried away. It was far from perfect, and it certainly wasn't the deepest movie I've ever seen. (Not that it wasn't deep)

No movie on IMDB's top 250 deserves its place.

It was good, yeah but 3rd best movie ever? No. Best movie of the year? Probably, yeah.

It deserves to be there or higher.

I seriously loved that film; I dunno about "Of all time", but of the films I've seen certainly.

I like your opinion. But when i went into Inception i didint expect a big emotional roller coaster i was more expecting a movie with balanced out Action Mystery and Sci-fi.
So, you can believe how disappointed i was when i saw Leo´s Character was whining about his dead wife, witch i thought was a cliché.
But i value your opinion and i thank you for it.

I thought it was a very well done movie. Not a huge fan of the ending. I think IMDB put up that high because of the original premise behind it

It deserves its place there since on imdb, every half-decent movie gets incredibly high scores immediately after its release, and it's much more than that. It certainly isn't one of the three best movies of all time, if that's what you're asking, no.

a proper villan ... saving the world ... Cobb's dead wife
But those are very strange reasons to say it doesn't deserve that spot, because I think you'd be hard-pressed to find a good movie where a big bad evil threating to take over the world is the main plot and personal drama comes short. Well, the Lord of the Rings maybe, but that's about it. Even judging by imdb's standards, look at the Top 250, hardly any of those movies match your criteria.

Out of curiosity, what do you think is the best of 2010?
