inFamous doesn't look as good to me as Prototype. I've heard nothing of inFamous' story but Prototype's is intriguing. They discuss this on a gametrailers podcast I can't be bothered to look out just now and it sounds pretty good.

Appart from that, I'm limited by money and my subsequent lack of PS3.

I want to play that one... IF I could only choose one.
I hope that was not sarcastic. Otherwise I would embarrass myself.

Answer: inFamous.

inFamous is the one with the electric powers. Yeah that's the one I'd pick as well.

Prototype. inFamous looks like the better game overall, but one of my friends owns a PS3, thus he will be picking that up. Once in a while we trade consoles to get a chance to play the other side's exclusives, so I'll get a chance at both.

I dont know alot about prototype but i likes the sound of infamous. it has a good story line not as simple as mario and as complicated as MGS. and the character choices are more than just be good or evil.
i dont know mabey it's just because I have a PS3 and like any game you cant get on xbox.

Definitely Prototype. I'm a total gore whore, the shape shifting powers look badass, and heavily exaggerated free-running seems more fun than realistic free running.

inFamous looks okay, but it doesn't have that "wow" factor.

I may give it a rent. But I'm not getting my hopes up, since, so far all PS3 exclusives have failed to impress me.
all PS3 exclusives ?

I'm going with 'Prototype' on the basis that I've never heard of 'Infamous'. Not a very logical decision I know. To be honest, I don't even think Prototype looks that great. It's got poor quality CGI combat. As in, it's way too smooth.

To me it seems that inFamous has the better story and moral choice and was devolved by sucker punch so thats a plus, however i don't really like the lighting effects and since I have no ps3 - 1000000

Prototype however seems more up my alley with cooler free running, more gore, people skateboards, and a ongoing war between the infection and the military which I think pushes it over the edge for me

InFamous is currently the top dog of these two for me.

I'll be waiting to see both games in action before making my decision though.

The comparison is quite logical, both are super-powered open-world action games that were hatched from comic book inspiration. Though in the case of InFamous the comic books are mentioned expicitly by the developer and in the case of Prototype it is inferred by the Hulk game.

Extra kudos for the developer for mentioning DMZ as inspiration. More people need to read that book. Time for some plugging. Imagine this: A second American civil war has broken out (or the first American civil war, depending on your view) and the city of New York has ground both sides of the conflict to a halt. Manhattan is the agreed upon demilitarized zone and Matty Roth is sent in as an intern with a journalist crew to do a piece on the situation during a cease fire. Needless to say, Matty gets stuck and the war flares up again, leaving him to report on civilians who are forced to cope while the cannons roar far and close. Their country is at war, stores don't get supplied and paranoia has struck en-masse among the populace, but all the same, life still goes on.

I have to say that prototype would be the best of the to. This is mainly because with InFamous I think that the ability to control electricity is cool and all, but I would think that doing all of that weird (but cool) stuff that prototype can do would last much longer and would be funnier.

Prototype has sort of a very weird and philosophical undergrowth that Infamous is lacking.

Think of this for a few minutes. You can absorb people. You absorb their DNA, their memories, their appearance, their whole being. They don't outright die, on the contrary they become part of you. It just has this creepy sense about it that has me intrigued.

It has the POSSIBILITY of being awesome. One second you can be smashing tanks together like toy cars and slicing people up only to leap into the sky and disappear while your enemies are blinded by the sun. You land in a back alley with a lone homeless guy and you absorb him and walk out into the streets like nothing happened begging for some coins while tanks roll around in a frantic search.

Now if they can pull this of Prototype has the potential of being My game of 2009 although Empire TW might take that spot if it is as good as the trailers show.

Infamous however focusses on the whole Good or Evil thing, something that has been worn down to a stump already. Do I wanna blow up all the people or just the thugs is an idea that has travelled to my mind countless times yet Prototype offers me a different choise.

'How evil do I want to become?'

This is a question that has not yet been asked of gamers or at least not this bluntly. There is no good or evil. Everything is bad but will you be a punisher stricking down only those that do harm or will everyone feel your wrath.

I have high hopes for both, but I am looking forward to Prototype far more, partly because it's a little more mature, but mainly for the vaired power sets, body-snatch ability, and the fact that the developer made some of the Hulk games. Total Destruction, I think, and that was not a bad game all-in-all.

At the moment I'm looking forward to infamous more because the I like the platforming element which looks like it's done much better in infamous, I really hope protoype will be good but I still have some reservations since most preview videos show very little hand to hand combat outside of finishers and specials, ie this could be incredible hulk meets dynasty warriors in new york, on the other hand it could turn out being really good which is what I'm hoping for.

PROTOTYPE FTW although I think both look good I don't have a ps3 so...my mind is made up. But also Prototype does look better because it's gorier and has cooler powers plus tanks =) everything is better with tanks.

I love both of em' so far. Both games are game types I'd like to play.
Prototype is made by the same people who made The Hulk: Ultimate Destruction, and the gameplay is loosely related.
I LOVE how they did that Hulk game, and this new game seems to be similar, but even better. The demo for inFamous has me hooked. I've played the missions over and over again. And in between missions, I've roam the world, making my own fun.
I don't expect anyone else to like these games as much as me. But I have simple requirements that simple games can fulfill(The Punisher/The Hulk:Ultimate Destruction/Crackdown), and both these games seem to nail them no problem in most cases.
