When you eat instant noodles do you screw around adding the boiling water and waiting or do you just eat 'em?

I just crush up the package and sprinkle the powder on. Tastes way better.

I'm having a serious case of nostalgia. When I was kid, there was a local snack that was essentially uncooked instant noodles with a packet of flavor powder. It was the shit, and tasted like cancer and preservatives. Bringing some made you the most popular guy in class.

But I do prefer instant noodles cooked.

I crush them in the package, then put them in a small bowl with some water and microwave it. That way, the noodles will absorb most (if not all) of the water and hydrate/heat the noodles. And, all I have to do is add the flavor packet and mix.

Definitely cooked. I can't imagine eating them dry.

However, my opinion is that of someone who doesn't actually eat instant noodles much. I enjoy cooking!

Totally depends on my mood, but more often than not I eat them dry, snack-like. Either way, I always have either the spicy beef or spicy chicken.

I've heard that a pot noodle sandwich is quite delicious- I suspect it's a cooked noodle pack, set between bread, but am not really sure- but I haven't had the pleasure.

I distantly remember those, now that you brought it up. Just like you described it, dry instant noodles with different powders. Haven't seen them for year. Do you by any chance remember the name?

Asked my whole family. They couldn't remember either.

I remember it would disappear from shelves occasionally, taking months or even years to return.

I carefully unwrap the noodles so as not to break anything off.
Then slowly place it at the bottom of the bowl and sprinkle on the powder (on top of the noodles, not in the bowl).
Add the boiled water without making any splashes, waves or ripples.
Wait 5-10 minutes.
Eat with chopsticks.

I'm going with "other", because I'm not too fond of them when they are raw, and they are just ruined when cooked properly.

Instead, I use about 1/3rd of the suggested water amount, basically like giving the noodles a nice footbath instead of tossing them into a boiling lake. That way, they are soft enough to evenly mix in the flavor powder, but still retain plenty of the satisfying crispness when dry.

I boil the noodles, drain off the water, then add the flavor packet and mix it in. So good and so not good for you, basically flavored sodium mixed into a nest of carbs. I like to follow that up with a cigarette, a vodka soda and a nap on the interstate.

As a child, I loved eating them dry. Then I eventually stopped because it wasn't fun anymore.

I also didn't see much point in cooking it, as "it just becomes a boring soup, what's the appeal".

Then, a friend of mine made us the cooked kind and served it with eggs, vegetables and various other spices, in a bowl with chopsticks. Then I went "waaait, you can add other stuff? And...Chopsticks? Hmm...".

And that's when it hit me. The various additions are half the point, as you can spice up the soup to be kinda different at any time, and the chopsticks actually are the best way to eat it. The soup keeps the noodles warm, allowing you to have them just the right temperature with the chopsticks, and by the time you're done with the noodles, the soup has cooled enough to drink. That and it's fun to clump up the noodles and suck them down with chopsticks. :p It's perfect.

I've since become a regular consumer of the stuff. Like, once a week usually. It's fantastic and comforting food.

Funny story, I literally just had a bowl for lunch. Nice chicken cube broth (I don't trust the flavor packets the soup comes packaged with anymore), some crushed garlic and other assorted spices, and voila.

And you should see what my younger brother does. Mushrooms and onions and all kinds of other vegetables go into his. It's outstanding. XD

True, haven't seen them for many years now, but I would still recognize them instantly haha

Also asked some old friends. It's strange that no one seems to remember them, even though they were quite popular back in the days

People eat them raw? Maybe I'm thinking of different kind of food but isn't it like eating dry... stuff.
Why wouldn't you cook it?

What in the everloving green earth is wrong with you?

I boil them in just enough water, and then a lil extra. I like to have some broth with my noodleys.

Also when I'm feeling extravagant I'll put some chopped meat in there, like bits of chicken or ham.

Cooked since I never try dry (ha trying saying that out loud!).

Even then I find dry unappealing since I imagine my gullet to be cut up from the sharp dry noodle edges.

I add in the water and make mine into full-on soup. I've tried it dry but I'm just not as into it like that. It's good dry but I prefer to wait a few minutes and make the soup.

Depends on my mood, honestly. They're good cooked, but also quite tasty as a dry snack. Can't complain either way

I'm Italian. I cook my goddamn noodles. Also, I have chopsticks, which has nothing to do with heritage, but I'm good with them and I like the world to know it.
