I will be the first to admit that this is a dumb poll, but the XBox forums won't let me post one for some reason.

Inverted is when you push the thumbstick up you look down. Non-inverted is when you push the stick up you look up. I am interested in what scheme you use in first person shooters. I know that most people who use non-inverted use inverted controlls in flight sims and such, but please try to limit your poll response to FPS's. Thanks guys and gals.

I prefer inverted. Maybe I played flight sims when I was a kid and it stuck? I dunno why. Just feels more natural to me.

I usualy prefer non inverted but when playing a flight sim I have to have it inverted, I use a joystick.

It adds to the immersion for me.

I hyper invert my stuff!

I got "left being right" and "up being down" and left stick aiming and right stick moving.

Hell, the disc tray button turns my console on/off now!

I would only use inverted only for anything that involves flying, otherwise, I would use non-inverted.

Inverted ftw. Ever since topgun for NES, im 90% a total spastic to targeting and camera movement without it. Plus it's fun cause all my friends don't do it. So any fps we play at my house they have to re-config everything haha. But seriously if inverted isn't an option to me any game is simply unplayable.

One of my first games was MechWarrior 2, and Flight Simulator 98. Both used inverted as the defaults. Haven't been able to stop using it since then. I was really confused when I got a game that had non-inverted as the default haha.

As with the others, I generally use non-inverted for FPSs and RPGs and all that stuff; inverted for flying games.

I played flight simulators long before I got into FPSs, so inverted controls was a natural choice. Been playing that way ever since.

My left hand plays inverted, but my right hand plays un-inverted.

So it depends which hand controls the view.

Mostly inverted, but I just I get used to whatever the game does; maybe it's from playing so many 3rd person games but the freelook is usually inverted in those. Whatever is the default I usually stick with but if I had a choice right from the beginning, probably inverted.

I guess this is just one of those things where pure chance decides which way your first game is set up, and you play everything like that thereafter.

When I think about it, the "inverted" mode seems like the fysiologically natural way, though. That's the direction plane flightsticks work.

Also, here's a demonstration. Sit on a chair, with your hand on the mouse, looking straight ahead at the screen, if you weren't like that already. Now freeze your elbow, shoulder, and neck. Do not bend them. Keep your gaze straight ahead relative to your head position. Then, move the mouse forward on the pad by moving your body. Your body will bend slightly forward. Now, while you are pushing the mouse forward on the pad, notice where this takes your own gaze - downwards, exactly like you were playing a FPS with inverted mouse.

Fun fact from Wikipedia: on Duke Nukem 3D, the first FPS with mouselook, what we now call "inverted" was the default setting, and there was an "invert mouse" option which resulted in what we now call "normal". It's Quake's fault that the terms now go the other way.

I roll "inverted", thanks to X-Wing.

Non-Inverted. I'm not flying a plane...
Yeah the only time inverted controls would make sense is if you're playing a flight simulater game like Blazing Angeles or HAWX
