Looking at phone technology currently I am starting to think about which of the two types of smartphones are better. I currently have and IPhone 3GS and I think its terrible, but I look at the android and see what looks to be a brilliant phone, so escapists what would you buy?

Neither, I love my basic Nokia (apart from its QWERTY keypad).
I'm not a fan of fancy phones. If I had to chose though, I'd pick an IPhone because I've been brainwashed into thinking Mac products are cool.

Well I have an Android, and I dont regret buying it. Its really easy to make my own apps, and even mini patches and firmware modifications. There is the odd freeze up, but not as bad as a common windows machine.

Android all the way.

In terms of available games and app safety (viruses, malware), IPhones by far.
The best android phones around (Samsung, HTC) are generally much better at everything else.

Get a good android phone or wait for the new IPhone.

I have an iPhone and I hate it. Which is kind of weird for me because I am a Mac person all the way. I have a mini and a MacBook. It's slow, the apps crash and refuse to reopen without my restarting the phone on a regular basis and did I mention it's slow as molasses?! Argh, it's horrible.

Before this, I had an Android (MyTouch 4g) and I loved, loved, loved that phone. It was so fast and I don't remember any app ever force closing on me. I miss that damned phone.

I have an Android and I prefer it to iOS. The thing about Android though is that you need to do some research and pick out a good phone to go with it. Even Android can't fix a crappy phone. Whereas with an iPhone you know what you'll get. You'll pay more too.

In short, it's just preference.

A mate of mine just got an iphone and I recommended he get angry birds as I got it for free on the android market and love it, but he has to pay for it on his iphone. Not really a big reason I guess, other than that I quite like both from what I've seen of an iphone.

Android all the way.

iPhone and Apple products in general are things I've never owned and never will. I can buy what they make for better and cheaper.

Android is a Hard core PC users phone OS its far more advanced than ios or any of it competitors very few iPhone users like it because of the interface
Personally I Have a Windows Phone which I love but next I will defiantly have to get an android phone

Android, all the way. I have a Samsung Fascinate, and it's a wonderful phone, although a bit underpowered for gaming.

Funny thing, I just got an android today and love it~ I find the IPhone layout generally lacklustre.
Price plays a big part too...

I'd say android, purely because there's just more variety within that catagory. With an iphone, you've got to do everything through apple, android lets you, for example, share videos via bluetooth.
they're both good phones though

I think iphone and Andriod do their games different. For example I have a free version of fruit ninja on my driod thats the full game it just has ads in it. A coworker also has a free version on the game on her iphone but its more like a demo sense she can only play one mode.

To the OP also remember that their are a wide verity of Android phones. So if you want a nice big touch screen or if you want full qwerty keybored then you wont have to limit yourself. Personally I love my Andriod but then again I just got it for the simple things like being able to watch youtube while Im a work. Also you can download the amazon market and get a free paid app a day. Its how I got plants vs zombies and peggle.

Not a fan of versus threads. My phone isn't a smart phone by any stretch of the imagination so I can't tell you which one I like better from personal experience. I do however prefer the Android phones because you can get QWERTY and touchscreen [http://www.androidauthority.com/the-best-qwerty-android-phones-in-2011-compared-10391/] phones whereas you are stuck with just the touch screen with the iphone.

I hate touchscreen tech. >.<

Also Android isn't Apple, a company that makes me feel like I'm on a leash when I use their products...
