I don't really hate them, I just don't see the point in them. Yes they, arguably, look kinda good. But I don't see why their so much better as, say my Creative Zen. Heck, my Zen is easier to use then an iPod, no need for a stupid program like iTunes. Plus, there is the ridiculous price difference. When I was buying a new mp3-player about 5 years ago, I saw an iPod and the Zen. Both had the same memory capacity, but the iPod costed 40 euro's more, plus you have to use iTunes to actually use your iPod. I already browsed a bit online before I went shopping, and I saw no major quality difference between the 2 (honestly, like there could be a lot of quality difference between 2 respected brands, it's just a little flashdrive with mp3-playing software). So why on Earth would ányone want to pay 40 euro's more, and be obliged to use a crappy piece of software? Well ofcourse I know the answer: fashion. I hate fashion, it's pointless, buying something wich is more expensive and annoying to use instead of a product wich is just as good, cheaper and without annoying software. When a salesman, while I was browsing through the mp3-players, was trying to convince me of getting an iPod, I felt like he was trying to rip me off.
The battery of my Zen is starting to fail though (after 5 years of heavy useage, can't blaim it), and when I'll get a new mp3-player soon I'll probably get another Zen. Screw iPods.

I use the Creative Zen M, it's bigger than the ipod (as in fatness) but it's about as old as the 5th generation ipod too, I think it had more space at the time (60 GB). I had tried 3 generations of the ipod and I had problems with the battery life each time, they promise 14 hours and I'd get 7 maybe. With the Zen I'd get a lot more and wouldn't have to deal with itunes, you just drag and drop, still have it, still love it.

120GB ipod Classic + Mediamonkey = Win!

The rest of the ipod family is overpriced plastic and the itunes software can go to hell.

I hate them for the sole reason some people really think that an ipod is not a brand of mp3 player and is its own thing
What do you mean? It's not an mp3 player, it's an iPod.

I don't like iPods. They are overpriced and come with the piece of crap that is iTunes. I prefer Creative, cheaper and no iTunes.

I hated iPods for a long time. About a month ago, after using virtually every alternative, I finally caved and joined the ranks of the iPod owner, and I've been fairly pleased.

It seems that every portable media player has had it's flaws. My Zen required me to manually add songs to the player as though it were nothing but an external hard drive, and while this worked great in some cases it was certainly difficult to determine what songs I needed to sync (I usually just deleted my entire library on my player and added my entire collection - an easy fix but it certainly took awhile to complete). Other players have had problems such as a poor interface (Sansa), poor software (anything BUT my Sansa, Zune or iPod) or poor performance. I was completely ready to love my Zune (I prefer it's interface) but the software suite left much to be desired. The final straw came from the fact that I recently started listening to a numbr of podcasts and found that many of them were nowhere to be found in the Zune store, meaning I had to manually check for new ones, download them and place them in appropiate folders. While this wasn't difficult, when compared to the process on the iPod (where I simply plug in my iPod once every week and get them all at once) it was draconian.

My current standing is, I PREFER the Zune when looking at only the player, but when examining the entire package, my iPod wins the day.

It should be noted that I didn't just go about wasting cash on these things (most of the time). I was satisfied with my Zen and only stopped using it after it fell off my armor one too many times in the desert. My Sansa took a nasty spill into a toilet (I was drunk at the time and the belt clip apparently wasn't terribly good at it's job). My Zen is still fully functional, but I ran out of space and needed to upgrade. I literally spent over an hour debating with myself as to wether I should get the 120gb Zune or the 120gb iPod. In the end, the iPod won out MOSTLY because of the accessory lineup. It was only after I began using the iPod that I discovered how much easier the iTunes software made my attempts to manage my media.

I use mine everyday and lovin' it! iTunes is a pain but I figured out how to use so it doesn't really bother me.

I love my Ipod Touch, but Itunes is st00pid. It's so irritating trying to organise songs, it just does it for me in a way I don't want it to.
