I'm sort of a English, Irish mix so I guess I'm a small part Irish but mostly English (And Canadian since I live in Canada) but I don't really refer to my self as Irish.

MY great grandfather was a stow-away on a boat coming to America from Ireland.

That is my connection to he country.
I'm honoured that the majesty of Commi has some connection to my humble country.
It never ceases to amaze me the number of people that have connections to Ireland....truely we are the dominant nationality.

My mothers side of the family is Irish and my Fathers side is English, thus I am 50% Irish and 50% English which equals 100%.

That ends the lesson on basic percentages, learning is fun! :D

OT: I think I'm 1/4th Irish, and my name is Irish. Does that count?
When fighting, yes.

Always thought you looked Irish actually.

One thing I've always wanted to know, what does your accent sound like?
People tell me it sounds either American or British. But I usually refrain from talking much or talk at an annoyingly low volume.
I think the old Bloc-brogue comes out when I'm nervous, which is very annoying.

Irish born and bred. Grew up in Offaly, beside a bog, surrounded by cattle. Live out west in Galway now and drink Jameson and Guinness pretty much at any available opportunity. Can't really get much more Irish than that.

Awww shit i've just realised i'm a walking stereotype. My whole life life is one big cliche!!

Good god! This is the first internet thread I've ever seen on this topic that didn't automatically devolve into "Irish-Americans/Canadians aren't allowed to call themselves Irish you guys are just a bunch of tossers Sinn Fein! RIRA Abu! Whiskey! blah blah blah..."

But yeah like so many other Murrikans both sides of my family are descended from famine Irish. Mom's side from Galway and Roscommon, Da's from Wexford and Cork.

Now this is the story,
all about how,
I was brought up in an Irish town.
And I'd like to take a minute, just sit right there.
I'll tell you how bein' Irish is totally fair.

iiiiiiin, south-west Dublin,
born and raised,
on the cul-de-sac's where I spent most o' my days.
Chillin' out, talkin'
Cyclin' and all,
And hittin' a sliotar up against the wall.

When a couple o' guys, who were up to no good,
Started makin' trouble in my neighbourhood.
I got in one little fight, and I didn't really care,
I said "I'm Irish; that's how you gotta live around there"

Goin' to school in the city is a little bit weird
Sometimes I wish I could go somewhere just a bit nearer
If anything I could say that euro beats dollah
But I thought "nah forget it, yo home to Tallaght!"

I pulled up to my house about seven or eight
And I yelled to my brother "Go home, getcha dinner"
Looked at my plate, I was eatin' some bacon.
Ireland is awesome, and no, I ain't fakin'

*bows*

This hungover Corkman once again today suffered many defeats due to Infinity Ward host advantage.

If that is what you mean?

Eh, except I'm not an Irishman. What with having lady bits and all. Just lived there a bit before running away to uni. Heading back on Saturday for Christmas, yay!
