Poll: Is a Childs Life more Valuable then a Adults ?

Logically the adult is more valuable, unless they're a non-contributing member of society.

Emotionally the kid is more valuable, because it's got so much to live for while the adults already had a good chunk of 'their time'.

I'm more of a logic man myself.

Depends who would be missed the most. Say the child is an orphan with no relatives to speak of, yet the adult has a wife/husband and a pile of children of their own. It isn't the dead who suffer but the ones that are left behind.

It all depends, even if it is in general.

Is the adult clean? Is the adult a repentant criminal or an incredibly horrific person who has committed terrible crimes? Is the adult mentally retarded? If so, how mentally retarded is it?

Is the child a typical child? Is the child a prodigy, a genius? Is the child mentally retarded? If so, how mentally retarded is it? Does the child have a physical sickness like cancer? If so, is the child terminally ill or can his cancer or sickness be cured?

There are several factors that must be taken into account.

indeed a childs life is worth more, than and adults life.

it only takes one person to change the world - and the adult might not have the time left to do that - a child has a lifetime.
everyone deserves a full life, or at least as much as possible - an adult might already be satisfied with its experiences, a child still has a lifetime left to live.
an adult might have chosen to be a total and utter cynic, that wouldnt enjoy the rest of life anyway - while a child is still forming its personality.

An adult can immediately produce offspring, replacing the child with relative ease. the adult generally has a higher value over the child anyway, unless we're playing these roles with gomer pile and Doogie Howser. going back to the offspring thing; if the adult is sterile, then kill the adult.

If this is more of a question on morals: then i say fuck morals. anyone in their right mind should save 30 years worth of work over 5.

This completely. This seems to have the best point on the topic so far.

Now-er-days kids arn't innocent. I've seen 6 year olds swearing their heads off and trying to pick a fight with someone 2 times his side. I've also seen a gang of kids, randomly attack someone. . . The adult wont be as bad as that.

Following the idea of dark age Weregyld, yeah children are more valuable because they offer a whole lot more potential. An adult will generally be more useful in the now but a bit of a liability later (see my dad and computers) The child will adapt faster and have a greater effect in the long run.

That being said, adults shouldn't be killed either, since, you know, they also tend to be useful.

Simply out of a sense of humanity, you'd spare the child and shoot the adult. If the adult has any sense of decency he'll probably agree. It would still be hard to kill the adult, I can't imagine what it's like to know that you're the cause of someone's death.

Your second paragraph is the exact reason why i could kill the child instead of the adult. adults have personality, children don't.

Also, Don't try to speak for everyone simply because it is what "you would do." I'd have no problem taking out the child if put in that situation. people are just people, regardless of age.
