Game costs are pretty much equal, so if you are going to get it for just 1 game, and you are not as a general rule a "console" gamer with excess disposable income, then No.
If however, you were going to be getting a blue ray player anyway, assuming you don't already have one, then Yes.
If you are debating between the XBOX360 and PS3: Consider that while the game selection is good, the XBOX360, is returned on average something like 2.1 times due to it getting completely fubared for one reason or another. And just like it's predecessor the XBOX, the cheap #$$ DVD player will fail at or about a year depending on usage.
I also don't know anyone with a PS3 that regrets the purchase. However, I suppose you might be a first if all you have is XBOX360 friends because you can't get online together or share games.

I own both PS3 and 360 and I have to say, I play the PS3 more. I'd have to say take the PS3, but thats just my opinion. The 360 is cool too, I just like the PS3 more (especially for single player)
I'd recommend the PS3 because it seems to me that on average the online community is more polite. They both have douche bags it just doesn't seem to happen as much on the PS3, or maybe I'm just lucky.

okay, i'm not being a ps3 fanboy here, but look at it this way. If you have an 360 and a PS3 you won't miss out any great exclusive and if there are multiplatform game, you might as well buy it for the ps3. If you don't have an 360, still buy it, because there are lots of nice looking and pretty good games coming out for the ps3 as lots of game are now becoming multiplatform and publishers are now publishing the games for the ps3. But really it's up to you, i'm just giving you some advice really

considering the failure rate of the 360, i'd have to say that the ps3 is more than worth it and you can update the hard drive with little effort and you don't void your warranty
Once the $300 Slim model comes out, then hell fucking yes. It's smaller, energy efficient, free online multiplayer, has a 120GB hard drive, and is AFFORDABLE. It also has the better console version of Rage coming with it soon. Amazing what a Blu-Ray disc can do.
I personally recommend the 360 over PS3 because the controller is more precise and ergonomic, and I prefer Xbox Live over PSN. It's also a hundred dollars cheaper.

Really depends what type of games you like. If you enjoy the PS3's library get that, if you prefer the 360's get it instead. I chose a 360 just because the PS3 wasn't released in the UK in 2006 and that the games are more of the type I enjoy playing.
