I fulfilled my boyhood dream of buying an Alienware M11x R2 (11.5 inch screen notebook type thing) about 6 months ago.... and it's just so balls.

-It get's REALLY hot really quickly when firing up the graphics card.
-The processor is actually really weak.
-It used to blue screen fairly often independent of heat and the only fix was to slightly under-clock the cpu -.-
-The optimus technology just isn't compatible with plenty of current games and causes problems.

In short it's pretty poor in my opinion, I've paid for the credence of the brand and really feel like I should have just invested in a custom desktop rig.

Anyone disagree?

You should have checked out Newegg first. They have desktop builds to choose from, and you can buy parts individually to get the best bang for your buck.

Yeah. Alienware is for people with too much money, too little sense and who just buy into brand names.
Basically its the PCs version of the Mac crowd.

Never understood any of the hype behind Alienware.

Build your own PC. Always. You can get exactly what you want, for the price you're willing to spend.

Yeah like I said I think it was just something I ALWAYS wanted growing up. It was like some kind of unreachable dream... Happy days. Now I just have a well-lit under-clocked incredibly-heavy-for-its-size laptop ><

Don't mean to be so pedantic, but it's the Razer Nostromo I believe.
But yeah Alienware is more expensive than it should be.

Hes talking about the ship The Nostromo from the 1979 film Alien.

But yeah, the Razer Nostromo can go fuck itself too. Unwieldly piece of crap.

The Alienware of today is not the Alienware of yesterday. Dell bought out Alienware awhile ago, should have bought from Origin PC, literally the new Alienware, started by former Alienware executives who escaped the Dell mothership. :3

Ha. Had a tiny lol there. I've amended the poll choice to avoid any future confusion. I want people to know that they'll be 'taking' a space ship.

I don't think so, because Alienware seems to be the only people that like Alienware. Never ever seen a positive opinion of them.

Uh, to be honest, I´ve seen and heard a lot of hate for those, but I´ve never done any sort of research myself on this matter, nor have i owned or tried out one, so I´m utterly clueless. So i guess, for me, they`re just another PC brand company thingy.

Alienware was good for about the first year they operated. Then they got a big head and cranked prices through the roof. But didn't do much to actually change the systems to be worth that money. Its continued steadily since then to the point where they are actually making crap now. You would have been better off to build your own, hell LEARN and build your own would have been a safer bet.
