I have to admit I'm pretty impressed with the previews, comedy videogames have got a long history of failing but this one seems to have quite a bit of creativity to it.

It looks just as bad as I expected it to be, but then I seem to be the only person on the planet who doesn't think Deadpool is 'teh ub3rlulz'. It appears as though the writing (from the short snippets I have seen) fits in with the general Deadpool vibe, it's just that it has generic gameplay that is only there to remind people that it's a game.

I would honestly rather play Xmen Destiny.

Disappointed implies I had expectations to it to begin with. I had none. So no.

Funnily enough, it's $30 over here in Aus, according to TB that's less then what USA and Europe have to pay.
Anyway, I had interest when the trailer came out and still do now, so I'll get it when I have the cash.

A while ago, I went on the IGN webpage to find, to my surprise, that a trailer for Deadpool was their headliner. I watched the trailer, thought Deadpool would be cool, and got my hopes up. Now that it's out, I once again clicked on IGN webpage and read the review. Sadly, it only got an 6.0. However, all of what I expected to be there ( Offbeat humor and hilarity, awesome character) are there, is that really enough to justify purchasing the game? Has anyone actually bought the game? If so, is the writing worth slogging through repetitive beat-em-up gameplay for?
Anyone else ? You ( apparently ) haven't played it so how are you dissapointed? I think you asked the question in the title wrong , you asked if anyone else is dissapointed , which is going to attract those who are dissapointed more than those that liked it . Just asking if the game is any good ( in the title ) would have done it .

OT: the game is halarious . Of course this depends on the person playing . While the gameplay isn't as polished as i'd like , it's still pretty good . I would recommend buying this game at half price . Definately not a day one buy . The game is pretty short .
Sorry if the question's led you astray. What I meant was that I was disappointed because when I saw the trailers for Deadpool, I immediately said "Hey! That's going to be kinda like a funny Arkham Asylum!" I just had my hopes up too much. Maybe Deadpool will be in the new Batman game as a cameo, or something.

Deadpool won't be in any Batman game, as he's Marvel while Batman is DC.

I think I will end up buying this game, but only when it drops in price. Maybe. Or I'll totally forget all about it, which is also possible.

Both. The gameplay is excellent.
The writing is even better.
Honestly, I can't find a fault with the game, not sure why everyone sounds so angry with the game.

The gameplay is alright, nothing too exciting, but it works. The humor, however, is excellent and I've found myself laughing out loud constantly throughout the game, something that didn't happen for quite some time.

If you're a Deadpool fan, you'll love it. If you're not, it's a hit or miss.

I still have the urge to get the game.
Gameplay looks fun enough, not great looking animation wise but fun, not to mention Deadpool is kind of in it and so far just about every joke during demos of the game have made me laugh no matter how forced some may be. So I will buy in honor of Deadpool when the price drops.
Now Activision, hand the sequel to Suda 51 and I think we're on to something.

From the looks of the game, I'd rather watch a Deadpool adult-cartoon.
an adult oriented Deadpool cartoon would be AMAZING.

OT: I am waiting for it on sale, not worth it at its current price, but it would be a good 20 dollar game I think.
Amen to that.

So far I'm a little disappointed. I think the game has value, but the value isn't 40.00. Everything is about as mediocre as it gets. The combat is whittled down to 2 choices (with 3 sub choices each).

A Melee
1)Katana Medium Speed, Medium Strength. Expect to hit 3 times then teleport.
2)Sai's Fast Speed, Low Strength. Expect to hit 5 times then teleport.
3)Hammers Slow Speed, High Strength. Expect to hit 1-2 times then teleport.

B Guns
1)Pistols Mid Speed, Mid Damage
2)SMG Fast Speed, Low Damage
3)Pulse Rifle Slow Speed, High Damage

With the exception on how fast you wish to shoot or attack the combat is exactly the same through out the game. The writing isn't anything to write home about, but is better than the gameplay. Though I haven't finished the game yet, I don't feel that Deadpool is very Deadpool-ish.

I would wait for it to hit 10-20 bucks in a month and buy it then. It is worth $10 for a playthrough.
Except you forgot the shotgun, the gadgets (two types of grenades, bear traps and mines), the momentum attacks that differ from weapon to weapon, the counter-attack system, and any combination of all those options, taken that you can actually use guns in melee and even for counter attacks.
Not to mention, I really love how everyone is toting how the gamepaly is repetitive when there is not a single one-hour stretch in the game after the first part where there are no minigames thrown into the mix, like turret sections, sliding down pipes, isometric parodies of classic 8-bit games, side-scrolling sections and a bunch of other things like that. Makes me wonder if we were playing the same game...

Don't take me wrong, I am not saying the gameplay is ground-breaking or in any way outstanding, but it is by no means some horrendous, repetitive slave-work that some people make it out to be, and it works especially well as a throwback to the past, a fast and loose arcade style hack-n-shooter that complements the narrative parodying video game styles and practices. I just don't understand what people are complaining about...

Finally, for the "it's too short for a 40$ game" argument, I laugh at it. We have tons of brown-grey shooters and other assorted samey action games that are even shorter and yet no one complains about those games asking for 40 to 60 dollars! Deadpool is simply not the "20 hours of slowly trickling content" type of game, it is a short, over the top and frantic experience that wouldn't work if it was stretched out to 20 hours or so.

The gadgets and shotgun are novelties in combat, you can't really call them combat methods (well maybe the shotgun, but you already have a nice close range weapon, so what's the point?). As for the interspersed mini games, they do serve to break up the monotony, they don't however change how boring the combat is. They intentionally made the enemies have large health pools and the weapons do small amounts of damage (as well as telling the player that it is actually better to do low damage and make big combos) to artificially inflate the length of the game.

If you feel like this game is anything other than a cash in good on ya, I just don't see it. Perhaps we are playing a different game. Let me use just one scene to place in your head how little thought went into this game. You are stuck in a glass elevator with plenty of possibilities at your disposal. You are only able to shoot the glass however, slicing it, hitting it with a hammer/sai/grenades/ect, or even teleporting (you know that ability that should allow you to go through things) fails to make any impact. For that matter teleporting in general is useless with the exception of dodging. Teleporting gets blocked by couches, ledges, glass, walls, and pretty much everything else that isn't open world.

The only redeemable aspect of the game is the comedy, which only hits the mark 1/4 to 1/2 of the time (depending on tastes of course). Even then they have gone for the infernal jester routine as opposed to the comedy loves tragedy of traditional Deadpool (though I expected that, since that is basically how new Deadpool is). I'm not even complaining about the length of the game, I honestly feel that the length of a game is irrelevant provided the ride there was interesting and fun. This game just feels dragged out, and that is saying something for a 5 hour game.

The only thing I'm disappointed in so far is the fact that the game costs ~66% more where I live.

I thought the writting was excellent. I didnt really care for the combat side of the gameplay. I would have expected Deadpool, such a renowned martial artist, to have a few more combos, I think there only 2 unlockable combos for each weapon and were the same combonation of buttons accross the board. Then an irritating thing was when shooting you couldn't take cover while the enemies could. While it may not be that big of a deal I thought it could have used a bit more attention. What is lacked in the combat department is made up for in the gameplay side, it never felt repetitive because you were always doing something besides just playing third-person hack-and-slash; riding in carts, using turrets, sliding down sewer drains, side scrolling platforming, top down 8-bit dungeon crawling, theme-park esque love boat cannon blasting, ect. It was just a fun game all around. Then the writing is was kept me playing more. It felt very Deadpool which is what I thought the game would struggle with. two of my favorite parts were Cable's bio, and after clearing out a bunch of enemies Deadpool usually had something funny to say, or he would simply drop a very heavy "Fuck those guys." While the story was very short there are around 10 or so challenge maps. I haven't gotten to play through them all so I'm not sure if they are all just an arena style "clear each wave of enemies in the time limit" or if there are other challenges sprinkled throughout. Then if you pre ordered the game it came with an extra map and you can change deadpool's costume.

TL;DR The game is fun and the pros outweigh the cons. If you like Deadpool play the game.

Considering it's retailing for $90 here, but I can get it for $30 USD on Steam (which I consider still too high, this is coming from a fan) I think I will wait until it's cheaper. That said, when I do buy it, it will be for the writing, I love Deadpool and Cable.

I get real lolipop chainsaw vibes from this....Just sort of meeeeh gameplay but quirky humour. I think I'l do what I did with that game, and wait til its cheap or maybe rent it.

Now wheres my Deathstroke game :D
Next Batman game will apprently have playable Deathstroke parts.
Yes thats confirmed, He is a perfect fit for the combat if you ask me, his takedowns could be lethal rather than just disabling the enemies, like slicing of a limb or simply holding a gun to there head and shooting them.

I hope all the playable characters from AC return throw in Deathstroke, Red Hood and maybe Green Arrow.

No idea why people rag on this game so much. Yeah, it's nowhere near great, and the writing amounts to little more than low-brow self-referential nerd humor, but the game is fully aware of it - after all, that's what High Moon was shooting for. Not every game can be Bioshock, Arkham Asylum or Shadow of the Colossus... every now and then I find it rather nice to switch off my higher brain functions and enjoy some dumb fun with lots of gratuitious violence, explosions and tits. Deadpool knows what it is and what it does, and it does it well.

Well I'm a little late to the party because for some fucked up reason ActiBlizn wants $65 for this game in my region while everyone else has it at half price.

And if you do manage to get it at 30 or less I think this is a great little game, I do mean little as it is very short (4-5h) and polished to that mid budget extent.
You get a basic brawler with simple platforming and the rest is just sunk into the Deadpool experience, who is essentially an adolescent Looney Toon, and you are in for one utterly mad sex, gore and boob honking ride (if you are easily offended you might want to Not get this game, if you are a Sarkeesian follower it surely will give you an aneurysm).
Actually this sums up the entire tone of the game:

Also while the combat is simple and very much the same through the entire game they have the element of responsive controls on their side and once you get the flow right for each type you keep accelerating the process of tearing them up, also helps that the mouse aim is dead on and trying to hit everyone in the head while running through mayhem is immense fun.

Admittedly I do not own the game. However, I have watched an hour of gameplay footage and was bored with the video so I can't imagine actually controlling it would make it that much better.

My stance is that all games should be good GAMES first and everything else is superfluous. If you have an excellent plot but terrible gameplay, do everyone a favor and just publish a damn book.

If your cutscenes are so well directed and acted...make a film.

If all you have is one or two interesting characters, occasionally witty dialogue, and a ton of gratuitous violence..stick with comic books.

Or make The Walking Dead TV show.

A good game is fun, and remains fun if you play it again. When your game is pretty much plowing through clones of the same 3 enemies between dick jokes that don't get any funnier the 2nd time you hear them...I'm not buying it. I'm not playing it. I barely have the interest to even talk about it.
