Been a bit since I actually made a post, so please don't shoot me if just beyond this first page there are 20 more threads on this subject, but I'm legitimately curious what percent of the population of the escapist still cares about the newest entry into the Cinematic Justice League Universe.

I went into Man of Steel wanting to like it. And as far as action movies go, I still enjoyed my action boner. But it really was just kinda meh afterwards, not anything I could really recommend any more than any other action movie. I really wouldn't mind it being awesome, and I'll admit that Marvel has their boot so deep inside me that they could use my mouth as an ankle bracelet, but I really did want to be hyped for it, and honestly felt let down.

The new courtcase in the DC Universe, on the other hand, isn't even managing to get me interested in walking in the door, the more I hear of it. It might be my fault for hearing information about the movie before it comes out and thus having assumptions made before I walk in (a bit like the new Godzilla; I enjoyed it (to the point of being willing to see it again or get the DVD, or seeing any sequals if they come out), but due to some of the information released before hand, I had a different set of expectations to what was actually encountered).

But every single thing I've heard about the Man-Of-Steel-Sequel-That-Has-Morphed-Into-A-Full-On-Justice-League-Movie has me on the defensive, rather than throwing money at my screen. Even more ironic, considering that while I watched some Super Friends and Superman and Batman and such while growing up, my first real introduction to DC -was- the Justice League, so being introduced to all of the heroes at once -has- been successful in the past. So why now am I unsure of even giving them the benefit of the doubt?

I just guess I don't know if it's just me, or if everything I've heard is just disappointing in general, but it really does seem like DC's just trying to earn some of the swagger that Marvel's got going, but without all the hard work Marvel's been putting in to set up the pay-offs. What does the Escapist think?

captcha: eat out. Hm.... I probably will go eat out that night. Or maybe I should eat out tonight... Edit: Yogurt tonight it is. Also additional voting option.

Not hyped in the least after Man of Steel. But I am willing to give it a chance, once we get actual trailers - I'm not dismissing it out of hand, like I have with the Transformers movies. (I'm perfectly willing to wait until it's shown for free on TV to watch the new Transformers movie. I did that with the Dark of the Moon and I found myself actually enjoying the movie more than I would have if I had seen it in the theatre.)

You should probably modify the poll for that sort of reaction - I'm fairly certain that there's a large group of people who are in the "Wait and see trailers before deciding." camp.

I expect I will derive a couple of hours of vague enjoyment from it a couple of months after it's released on DVD.

I 'unno, Man of Steel was pretty meh. I enjoyed that one action scene in the small town with Superman squaring off against Nasty Lady and Big Dude. But the rest was just ... meh. And I'm not even one of those people who got angry about the killing thing, or the collateral damage thing, or the it's-too-dark-and-serious thing, or any of that. I just found it to be an unimpressive movie.

This new film just feels like a rushed attempt to ape Marvel. All the more so every time it's decided that they're going to try and squeeze something else in.

I'm not hyped because there's practically nothing to be hyped about. On IMDB there's no plot synopsis (on account of nothing being known yet), and only 4 photos, 2 of which are the same poster. The movie doesn't come out until 2016. What is there yet to be hyped about other than "OMIGOSH EETS SUPERMAN N BATMAN IN DE SAME MOVIE" ? Just to add flamebait, I quite liked Man of Steel, and Henry Cavill was great as Superman.

Wake me up on this when we have a trailer.

A little side tangent: I'm honestly quite sick of this whole culture of going "WAAA WAAA WAAA WAA WAAAA!!!" over every. Single. Fucking. Thing. we hear about big new franchise movies coming up. How every single letter of a possible tweet about Star Wars VII is analyzed and anal-yzed to the point of making me want to scream. A new photo of Superman standing in a rain? OH MY GOD IT'S THE MOST IMPORTANT THING EVER GIVE IT ALL THE NEWS COVERAGE!!!! How there's an assfuckton (that's now a word) of Youtube videos of people going "I don't like the new Batman costume" or something. I wish there was some way to avoid it, but it feels like the only option would be becoming a hermit in Vietnam or volunteering for science expeditions on Antarctica. And I mean those solo expeditions where one person stays in a cottage for 4 months at a time.

Until I seen an actual trailer for it, I am not hyped for it at all.

I'm so unhyped for it, whenever I see an article about it or something I'm reminded of the fact that they are trying to catch up to Marvel, then I'm reminded of whatever Marvel has next (right now: Guardians of the Galaxy and season 2 of AoS) and get hyped for THAT.

That's right, I'm so not hyped for Batman V. Superman: the case of not knowing that "V." is used for, that I'm hyped for the competition.

Seems that it gets worse and worse. For instance, new rumour is there are 4 villians.

1. Victor Zsasz
2. Morgan Edge (public mouth piece for Lex?)
3. David Cain (some assassin?)
4. Mercy Graves (?)

Personally apart from Zsasz, i have no idea of the other three if they are major villians or secondary characters. Also we have yet to see if they add a villian for superman to fight. But it seems this movie is so overloaded with characters.

The way that you worded the title makes it sound that people were hyped for the movie in the first place. The only thing about the film that I am looking forward to is to see whether or not the utterly bizarre casting choices actually work or not, but other than that I care very little for the film as I:
A) Never watched Man of Steel
B) Am not a big fan of Zach Snyder
C) Am pretty put off by the previously mentioned casting choices and how crowded this film looks like it is going to be

The concept of "Batman v Superman" seems pretty corny to me. I think it will take a LOT of suspension of disbelief to enjoy the movie. This coming from a long time DC comic fan...

Well when some details get out I might be a bit excited. It has potential but I wouldn't be surprised if it doesn't go anywhere.

Though I did enjoy man of steel more then the avengers.

Let's see.

Man Of Steel was shit.

Zack Snyder is shit and he's the director.

David Goyer is the the writer, he's pretty shit and has no respect for the source material.

Ben Affleck, for some INSANE reason is Batman.

They're cramming Aquaman in it. They cast Aquaman as a huge Hawaiian barbarian looking guy with no resemblance to Aquaman.

They're cramming Cyborg in it.

They're cramming Wonder Woman in it, and she MIGHT be the ONLY major character in the movie who is potentially well cast...IF Gal Gadot can bulk up some solid muscle, and IF she can act.

Lex Luthor is being played by that dweeby awkward kid who's not Michael Cera. The one from Zombieland. WTF is that?

Lexcorp has been turned into a parody of Facebook.

They're cramming in:
Lois Lane
Perry White
Martha Kent
Alfred Pennyworth
Mercy Graves

It supposedly has like 5 villains.

The last time there was a good DC movie was 2008. SIX YEARS AGO.
In the meantime they have cancelled Young Justice, Green Lantern TAS, Beware The Batman and fucked up the Batman Arkham games by releasing Arkham Origins.

The only live-action thing in SIX YEARS that they've not fucked up is Arrow.....which I fully regard as some sort of miracle.

....
This movie is a badly titled, badly cast, over crowded thing, that is written by a shitty writer, directed by a shitty director, and it's the sequel to a sad excuse for a Superman movie.....all this amidst a SIX YEAR-LONG STREAK OF FAILURE

Why WOULD anyone be hyped?

This man has pretty much taken the words out of my mouth so far.

Hell, I'd watch Revenge of the Fallen over Man of Steel again and god I fucking hated that movie. DC just does not have it's shit together for movies. I really wish it did, but Marvel has the superhero craze by the balls for the big screen right now. I am anti-hyped for this movie, basically.

BOOM! /thread tbh

It would take nothing short of a biblical style miracle at this point to persuade me that I would want to shell out my own money to watch this. I don't even really like the concept of these "superhero fusion" movies and this doesn't sound like it's even going to be able to halfly pull off the concept.

I view the Batman=Superman movie the same way I view EA products, something to laugh at and general amusement.

I've only seen gifs of the fights of MoS so someone correct me if I'm speaking shit here, but can't Superman punch a building into rubble with like, a light tap? How the fuck is he going to fight Batman (the more "realistic" Batman that i) without turning him into a mushy pulp before they even get within 100 feet of one another?

But otherwise, no, not too hyped. I appreciate that with The Flash series coming out and the existence of the Superman movies, DC is bringing in the fun side of the comic universe but I'm not a fan of all this dark gritty bollocks, and even the sillier/more fun Marvel movies were basically just loud, if somewhat entertaining filler.
