I've heard so many mixed opinions, so let's just settle things once and for all.
Yeah that's no going to happen, the will just devolve into another opinion war.
From my view, Dragon Age 2 is a semi-masterpiece. It was a spectacular game that corrected the big problems that Dragon Age: Origins had. They fixed the combat(faster and fluid, giving the player more control is always better), they fixed the dialogue by bringing it into the needs of this day and age(Yea! No more boring list dialogue options that take 3 to 5 minutes to decide what to do because all the options look the same), they fixed the skills system by making awesome skill trees that made sense by making the options clearer and also removed unnecessary things like trap making and survival sub-abilities, leaving points for things that matter and bringing in more attacks and abilities that make sense.
The only reason it isn't a full masterpiece is that it had one problem, a minor one, but a problem nonetheless. It had around 10 or 12 dungeon/instance maps that they repeated a few times each. Though props go to them for covering up this flaw with some nicely placed blocking devices so that the dungeon would be slightly different in size.
But being grown up, understanding why it happened, and putting it aside to look at the rest of the game, Dragon Age 2 was a fantastic and entertaining game. I got at least 50 hours of playtime in for my first time beating it, and I expect to at least play it two more times, since I played a mage first and next I will do warrior and then a rogue.
I give DA2 a 9.5 out of 10.
