Everyone probably feels more comfortable around their own race, but I don't think everyone is really racist in a hurtful way. Also, noticing what race people are doesn't make one racist.

One thing I hate is the term race referring to people of a different skin color. They're not a different species just because they look different. Just a pet peeve. We should all just say they're people who look different, and have the courage to call white people white, black people black, etc. I don't see how identification based on color is any more offensive than referring to all black people as "African-American" when a good portion of them are neither one.

It's interesting to hear the responses of a nearly all young white male demographic talk about racism and its proliferation.

To answer the question, yes.
You see? That is /you/ being racist.
Stating a fact about this place's demographic isn't racism.

But I'm not quite sure what you're contradicting in my post.

African American are REAAAAAALLY racist. You have no idea.

I try not to be, but every time they rob us, shoot out our windows, or kill each-other outside our store, it's hard not to let a few hate-filled thoughts pass through.
THIS.

Seriously, I'm black and I get sick of the bullshit. It mostly elder blacks, though and comedy actors.

I'm not a racist, it'd pretty much insane if I were, besides which it's absurd anyway. I know plenty of others that are also indifferent to race.

Another week, another racism thread...

I dunno. Weren't there studies done that prove that we as humans are naturally fearful of differences, if only a little bit? I can tell you that as much as I wish I wasn't racist I'm still a little more wary of people who aren't white. Again, I wish this wasn't true but it is. Believe me when I say that I'm trying to change this.

I think racism is becoming a dying breed, the KKK practically has died off, the American Nazi Party has never been heard from for decades, and nowadays, the idea of white supremacy seems pretty much silly to pretty much everyone I've known (except my ex step-dad, he might be racist, but that would make him the only racist person I knew of).

So I doubt anyone's racist, or at least racist enough to do anything about it, could be 'cause I never really met anyone who seems the least bit racist (aside my ex step-dad, but I can't even confirm on that, so don't look into it).

and I can tell you easily I'm not racist, heck, I honestly once saw a documentary that told about the Klu Klux Klan, and I actually found myself laughing at the KKK propaganda heard in the recorded videos the documentary showed, and I actually have plans to point and laugh at any remaining KKK members I find.

The general opinion of Escapist's Members is hate People in general, so expect to find a lot of 'yes because people are terrible'. But really, whether or not people are inheritely racist is something that's been debated about for years. Like trying to find the answer to the debate of 'Environment vs Genetics'.

I don't see anything as racist unless there is genuine hate behind it. I will make 'racist' comments to my black friends and vice versa. We don't see a problem with it, it's all just banter.

I answered the poll with a 'no' the key words to that being "everyone" (overgeneralization) and "really". You'd be surprised what cooperation, forced or not can do to one's inherent racism..

It goes like this. Everyone is racist because people think other are, so they become themselves. That's my theory anyways. It goes like this, a black guy isn't hired from a white guy, so the black guy thinks that it's because he's black. Such a thought then makes the black racist for discriminating against the white guy because of race.
likewise, a black guy gets hired over a white guy, so the white guy thinks the black guy got hired because he's black(a token black guy if you will) so the white guy then is racist for discriminating because of race.
it's a deadly cycle that will never stop till everyone realized their is only one race, human.

Everyone's a little bit racist
Sometimes!
Doesn't mean we all go around committing
hate crimes.
Look around and you will find
No one's really color blind.
Maybe it's a fact
We all should face
Everyone makes judgments
Based on race.

Yes, but that's just passive racism. I try and reserve my active racism for people who deserve it.

It's a tough call; because I'm sure there are small undertones or prejudgments I do without realizing it when I first meet people, but I also have good friends who are Indian, Asian, and African American. Going Unsure.
