Facebook isn't forcing people to put down as much information as they do. Facebook is only dangerous if you choose to share your most personal information

I just set it so only my friends can view my page. I also don't use Facebook for anything other the making fun of my friends. I never post important information, and I'm never serious when I post. My only activity is posting things to get a laugh out of my friends... and it usually works.

I won't have to dig too too much if I delete mine.
Oh no, what i mean is there is an option to actually delete your account since its a website to post personal info on. However to actually find the 'delete my account' option is so obfuscated and the option to 'deactivate' which does nothing is pushed so hard it won't surprise me if many people who wanted to delete there accounts deactivated it not realizing they did nothing.

You want to expose yourself like that, it's your choice. You can't really blame Facebook completely, there are privacy settings and you have approve whomever you want to befriend.

If people choose to put their private information on a public website, that's their problem. They have no right to complain once the shit hits the fan.

Peeps need to watch their privacy settings, is all they need to do. Too many people I see leave it being visible to "friends of friends" for way too many things. It's amazing how many actual friends of mine have over a 1,000 "friends," but to me, probably like 980 of them are total strangers.

I got phone numbers, email addresses, physical addresses, all always popping up into my home page from "friends of friends" status updates. I know for a fact these real friends barely (or even?) know all these supposed "friends" they accumulate, and a few of them are of the young, gorgeous persuasion, that should really be looking out for that kind of stuff, especially since they might be spreading that info to not only the strangers they call "friends," but to the completely total strangers those friends call friends if they comment on anything they do!!!

It's a useful tool, but you really gotta use it intelligently...

Since you can control the amount of information you want to give out, it's only as intrusive as you make it.

I don't use Facebook because I don't want some freak to track me down. The purpose of Facebook is to give people a glimpse into another's life.Facebook is only intrusive because the Facebook users want it to be.
I don't want to use it and I never will.

Facebook only tells people what you let it. If you don't want people to know. Don't post it on-line, and not just on Facebook. It's not intrusive into peoples lives, people are too sharing with their own lives.

Facebook doesn't intrude on anything.......it's morons that fuck themselves over.
I agree! What I do hate about Facebook is all these dicks (like my old friends) that fucking live by it, they won't go out to have a laugh, they'll go out to so they can put pictures on their profile, it's fucking sad. Since when did people have to voice everything they do? Oh, and what's more disgusting is that it's much easier to "like" a band on Facebook than it is to actually listen to them, making the whole poser society I sat through in college even easier to live by. It's no wonder I have like 40 friends on the thing, the rest got deleted and they get ignored when I see them.

Anyway, people who share personal information over the internet probably don't account for the possibility that they could shaft themselves, so fuck them, their fault. If they do account for that possibility and still shaft themselves, then again, fuck them, their fault.

It depends on how much information you put there, people put on there what they want everyone to know, like: "I'm home alone tonight, zomg noting 2 do"...

I personally use it to "check up on" girls I used to have crushes on...

It's as intrusive as you make it. You don't have to go on Facebook, and if you do, you control exactly how much information you put on there. If it's too intrusive, that's because you chose to share private information.

It's not like it demands to have all the information about you ever. I think the only required stuff is a name, an age and a country you come from. Whatever else goes up there is up to the user. If something they post comes back to majorly bite them in the arse, like photos of them comitting some vandalism or something, then it's their fault.

I live by a simple mantra; if you don't want Facebook telling people you like Dog Porn, then don't tell Facebook you like Dog Porn.
