I gave valid reasons why I don't like it, not sure about everyone else. It just seems like every other FPS on the market, albeit alot slower and (imo) less enjoyable.

Even though I like Halo, I find myself wishing that everyone that hated it was able to express reasons and articulate themselves as well as WlknCntrdiction did.

See, theres this, rational, not angry, perfectly acceptable approach, and then theres this:

Which speaks for itself.

I enjoyed Halo too don't get me wrong, especially when it was new and fresh, even H3 was a great game when I first played it but then it just kind of began to get stale. I got all the achievements and I had all but gone off the multiplayer by this time though so it didn't really hold my interest anymore. It was fun for a while but I think as with this game(as well as with other over hyped games)once the hype wears off and you actually look at a game without the hype filled glasses on then you begin to see how average a game is, I'm kind of starting to see this with GTA4, it's still a great game(better than H3 imo but you can't really compare two different genres of games)but the novelty is starting to wear off for me.

All in all I think H3 is a competent shooter but when it's compared with other shooters, like COD4 and GoW and you see the accomplishments those games have achieved against H3s then you see it's not all it's cracked up to be, it may have been the greatest selling game of all time(or is that GTA4 now? I'm not too sure)but hype can only do so much for a game, sadly it's only the money Bungie need in order to make another one, I just hope when/if another Halo comes out that they take their time, go back to H1, see what they did right there and not think that they can get away with churning out another game like this, probably through no fault of their own but through Microsoft wanting to get he game out quickly. However now with the news that Bungie have disbanded from Microsoft I have a feeling they will take their time and H4(whatever it'll be called)will be a better for it:)

You might be thinking of this: Halo 3 had the record for the biggest opening weekend in entertainment history. GTAIV broke that record.

This thread was screaming of "flame war" from the start. You can't make a Halo thread that even has a chance of pitting halo haters and fanboys against one another unless you want to start a violent riot the likes of which are only seen at Brazilian football games.

"Do you like halo?" is similar to indiscriminately swinging a baseball bat around a bee hive farm while occasionally throwing a couple concussion grenades. "is Halo 3 essentially for Halo Fanboys" does little to help either.

And, no. Do not wonder why there's all the Halo hate. To ponder such things is the beginning of a futile quest and descent into madness. Most importantly, do not make threads on gamer forums to attempt to decipher the mystery of the bloody field of carnage that is the Halo flame war.

I would suggest that this be locked before any deaths come of it.

Please please PLEEAASE don't say that Halo 3's story was better than than Halo's. I really liked the story in the beginning, the first Halo ring looked fresh and the combat was new and exiting. Halo 3's feels like you're playing with your lego's or something. Something about all those bright colors makes it look way more childish than Halo CE. Yes there were bright colors in Halo CE, but I just thank the gods nowadays that gaming wasn't that far improved so they couldn't use colors that bright and try make it look like a serious game.

What I'm trying to say is the campaign felt like they just wanted to end the story. It didn't even feel that much like a story to me either, just an excuse for shooting lots of stuff. At least Halo CE felt like you had to survive, Halo 3 makes you feel like everyone already assumes your god in a space suit and sends you on almost every single mission alone (don't try to tell me those marines 'accompany you', they're fucking stupid).

The multiplayer is great for me though, lots of slaughter and fast paced combat.
If I'm correct Halo 3 was designed around online play and multiplayer almost completely, and the single player campaign is just there because some people like playing alone, plus the story needed to be finished. I mean look at the menu, it even counts down before starting when you're playing solo campaign!

I notice I'm starting to ramble. Long answer short: No, I don't think it's just for fanboys since I enjoyed Halo 3 multiplayer quite a bit. The campaign however has fanboy written all over it, in contrast to Halo CE (duh).

The minute I saw the hype for halo 3 I just knew it would fail so i havn't even bought it even thought it was the reason I bought my 360. The first one was by far the best mainly because of the assault rifle, it was great running into a room and slaughtering everything with it. Halo 2 sucked for me because of the battle rifle sure it was probly the best human weapon and it could own everything but the first time i used it I said "burst fire? in halo? oh great who made this shit?". From what I've seen and hear of Halo 3 they brought back a useless version of it "kind of a shallow clip" and "just enough rounds to kill an enemy" spring to mind. The assault rifle pwned and no one can argue against that.

Oh and yes Halo 3 is for fanboys. You want multiplayer play halo 2. You want story play Halo CE.

EDIT: Why isn't there option in the poll that only include Halo CE and Halo 2???

halo 3 was not the worst halo game that spot is reserved by halo 2 but the story may have been okay and the gameplay was good but everything it does has been done better by other games id rather play halflife or bioshock than that game

Because "I haven't played it" is up there to cover that demographic without enabling the whole "I haven't played it, so I don't know what I'm talking about but I hatz0rs it anyway" thing. *cough*

Meh... for me, I found Halo 1 painful to play through, I thought Halo 2 was a bit better, and I thought Halo 3 kinda backslid. I didn't think the story was all that grand and the gameplay felt sluggish (felt like I was floating when I jumped, the running didn't feel very smooth).

It's not always a case of "just play it and you'll love it" because it's not that straightforward. Halo didn't grab me even a little bit, on any level, and I did try it. If Bioshock had online play, I'd never play Halo 3 ever, but the sad fact is that I only own about 3 multiplayer games, and when I want to play online with my brother (the only way we get to play together) I have to play one of those.

my main problem with H3 is the brutes, they may be better oponents then the brutes in H2 but they dont compare to fighting against the ELITES.

I have Halo: Combat Evolved on my PC at the moment, and I love that game. I haven't tried the other Halos, but Halo 1 is good. Althought the enviroments could be better, the game kicks ass. Ah, what am I talking, it was 2001. That game rules! :D
But I personally think all that hatred is because of the sales, and because of the hype. If it would've been just a normal game, many would've liked it, and all of the haters would've just STFU'd. There are alot of people who think World of Warcraft sucks, but I haven't seen any hater publishing his hatred against it on the internet.

That's essentially how I feel about Halo, though I wouldn't have used such... grotesque wording.
