So my family and I were eating, and incest became, albiet briefly, the subject. So that got me thinking: is incest wrong if it's consensual?

EDIT: A lot of people think that something like that is going on in my family. No. Just... No. The thought is just... *vomits*
In mind of the House of Usher, I would say it is wrong regardless.

Biologically, it's very muchly wrong, but I think any two people have the right to love each other. If it's just a quick romp, then I'd perhaps be against it?

I really don't know o_O

There's inherently wrong with incest, though I imagine people feel squeamish around it because they can't imagine themselves ever doing such a thing because they don't see their family as potential sexual mates.[/read about the Westermarck Effect once and thinks he's got all the answers]

I read the title. I turned my twin sister. I asked her what she thought about it.

She says it's gross. I'm inclined to agree.

2 out of 2 twins agree: Incest is just weird.
My twin agees with you, and I agree with he. So I suppose 4/4 twins.

If both parties are consenting adults then I say let them do whatever. Not my cup of tea, but whatever floats your boat man.

If a child comes out of it, that's your problem.
Exactly. Not much to add here, really.
The only argument against it is the whole children thing. But that's it.
Even that is cagey, cause then the principle applies that the only people who can have children are those who are the most likely to produce healthy, superior offspring.

Neither are great choices, but one trumps.

Fuck how can you ask a sibling that question!?!? I'd run the fuck away if I was asked that from a sibling.

I'd really rather they not have kids. In fact, fuck their reproductive rights, snip one of them.

But they can screw each other sideways for all I care.

I don't think its good if its consensual... but hey some people have things for it so I say go for it. Yet if it isn't consensual then man thats fucked up on so many levels. Some people have "Fetishes" that relate to that sooooo... what ever floats their boats... I have a rather unattractive family. My family is ugly in my opinion so just thinking about makes me want to vomit.

No. There is nothing morally wrong with some family lovin and anyone who jumps to say otherwise is simply blinded by the "Oh, gross" mentality.

Well, besides the fact that conception usually results in horribly disabling birth defects, YES IT'S WRONG! I know this might be a bad analogy, but bear with me. I equate it to eating your own feces. I don't know why that came to me but there. I am prepared for any awful things that may befall me now. Also, DAMN IT Escapist what did I say about eating polls earlier today? BAD WEBSITE, YOUR A BAD WEBSITE!

If I had a sister that I thought was sexually attractive and she was accepting of the advances, I'd screw her.

People are people, if you like them then do as you wish with them but you have to be aware of the consequences whatever they be.
Nobody should stop anyone from being together.

as long as there is not a history of genetically deceases in the family i wont be to harmful except maybe the emotional trauma the kid(that may come from the relationship) gets when it finds out that it is not normal to have parents that are closely related.

As long as no children come from it, I see no problem. Incest is illegal because it leads to inbreeding, which leads directly to forcing a child to live life with disabilities of all sorts.

However, if a child is born from such a union, it's NOT just the problem of the two parents. It's the problem of the child, and it's the problem of a society whose responsibility is to keep its members safe and give them the opportunity to prosper.
It doesn't always lead to complications, does it?

Do you think that two people with a disability shouldn't be allowed to have children just because it might lead to further complications?

Do you think that child's life isn't worth living just because there's a 'problem' with it? Why not just abort all the children that have confirmed disabilities before birth? They're just going to be a burden on society.. because inbred children put communities in danger and take away opportunities to prosper. (lolwhat)

If there's a 100% chance of complications, which I doubt, it does make things a little different. But how can we make that a punishable offence? And what happens after conception? You said it becomes the problem of the child. True enough, but what might they prefer, a life with a disability or no life at all?

Well if you don't want to run higher risks of messing up your gene pool then yes, yes it is.

Sorry, but I can understand that back in the olden days when people had to bone their sister to reproduce when the population wasn't reaching the triple digits, but now it just seems unnecessary and dangerous for your future generation.
