So my family and I were eating, and incest became, albiet briefly, the subject. So that got me thinking: is incest wrong if it's consensual?

EDIT: A lot of people think that something like that is going on in my family. No. Just... No. The thought is just... *vomits*

Biologically, it's very muchly wrong, but I think any two people have the right to love each other. If it's just a quick romp, then I'd perhaps be against it?

The only argument against it is the whole children thing. But that's it.

Even that is cagey, cause then the principle applies that the only people who can have children are those who are the most likely to produce healthy, superior offspring.

Neither are great choices, but one trumps.

as long as there is not a history of genetically deceases in the family i wont be to harmful except maybe the emotional trauma the kid(that may come from the relationship) gets when it finds out that it is not normal to have parents that are closely related.

As long as no children come from it, I see no problem. Incest is illegal because it leads to inbreeding, which leads directly to forcing a child to live life with disabilities of all sorts.

However, if a child is born from such a union, it's NOT just the problem of the two parents. It's the problem of the child, and it's the problem of a society whose responsibility is to keep its members safe and give them the opportunity to prosper.

It doesn't always lead to complications, does it?

Do you think that two people with a disability shouldn't be allowed to have children just because it might lead to further complications?

Do you think that child's life isn't worth living just because there's a 'problem' with it? Why not just abort all the children that have confirmed disabilities before birth? They're just going to be a burden on society.. because inbred children put communities in danger and take away opportunities to prosper. (lolwhat)

If there's a 100% chance of complications, which I doubt, it does make things a little different. But how can we make that a punishable offence? And what happens after conception? You said it becomes the problem of the child. True enough, but what might they prefer, a life with a disability or no life at all?

Sorry, but I can understand that back in the olden days when people had to bone their sister to reproduce when the population wasn't reaching the triple digits, but now it just seems unnecessary and dangerous for your future generation.
