I'm looking for all the Gym Leaders in Heart Gold so I can get their phone numbers for rematches, and some of them can only be gotten at 10AM or earlier, and I'm sorry, baut at that time of the day i'll either be asleep or rushing to get ready for work or some other appointment, Ii will NOT be gaming, so is it cheating to change the clock for such events?

OK the middle 2 didn't show up for some reason :p here's what they're supposed to say

It's OK Occasionally
It's Only OK if you NEED to do it
(the last one says "It Isn't Cheating")

It is a lil bit, but if you can change it during gameplay, e.g. the clock in your room in most pokemon games. Then I think the Developers intended for atleast someone to do it.

It's a single player game so who cares do whichever you find to be the most fun.

Does it matter? it's single player, who cares if you cheat? especially if it doesn't affect gameplay. We're not going to judge you and reply "Your not one of Us, Leave" whenever you comment if you cheat in SP.

I wouldn't say so, esspecially since there's not many other ways you're gonna be able to get past the is point of the game.
Hell I did it all the time back when I still played Fable 2. Buy up a bunch of property and then go in and set the calender forward a month or so, and you're set.

call me a hypocrite but i would have to say that IS cheating, i mean who cares what time you get a gym leader's number but unlimited cash? but hey, as alot of people on here have said already, who cares? it's your game :p

Wait... are you saying there are games that restrict your actions based on the real-life time of day?

If so, that is utterly retarded game design.

Yes it is, but no1curr if you cheat in single player. No one gives a damn if you change the clock on your DS so you can catch Pokemon that come out at night or use dusk balls. Do whatever you want.

I did it all the time with crystal so I could get that lapras as well as night pokemon when I really needed them, like Ghastly in sprout tower.

i didn't know you could change the system clock in crystal :/ or do you just mean moving it forwards and backwards an hour for daylight saving time?

I suppose it depends on what you're gaining from it. I remember in Fable 2 there was a glitch which you put the clock forward, and gain money for all the days past. I'd argue that's more cheating than swapping the time on pokemon so you can catch a certain pokemon and/or get a gym leaders phone number.

But then again, since it's single player, who cares? Whatever makes your game more enjoyable!

I changed the clock quite a few times in Silver/Gold. Like for example Lapras, you could only catch that on a Friday if I recall. Sod waiting for friday!

Aren't most clock based things in games mostly just for easter eggs like setting it to Christmas/Halloween.

Doesn't LBP2 have a trophy for logging into its servers BEFORE 7 AM, screw 10 AM try 7AM

I voted not cheating, due to extraneous circumstances but it is by definition because you are altering the parameters of a required event outside the usual rules of the game so:

in academic vernacular, you cheated.
I knew I'd use that line somewhere ( mental point to self )
the thing is it's your game if you cant / don't want to play it at a certain time of day why in the hell should you be forced to do so?
