Wait... are you saying there are games that restrict your actions based on the real-life time of day?

If so, that is utterly retarded game design.
not really, it adds a sense of realism to the game and makes you feel more a part of it, alot of RPGs do it, and they don't restrict your actions, that would be stupid, it's just some bonus features can be accessed if you're in the right place at the right time. mixes the game up a bit and makes it harder to "fully" complete the game and thus get bored of it

I think it is cheating because you're fiddling with parts of the game you're not supposed to but as far as I'm concerned cheating is always okay in a single player game. Cheating in multiplayer games is a dick move, though.

OK the middle 2 didn't show up for some reason :p here's what they're supposed to say

It's OK Occasionally
It's Only OK if you NEED to do it
(the last one says "It Isn't Cheating")
Evidently, polls use apostrophes to enclose the string values, so putting a ' in the middle will end it there and the rest ignored.

OP: As TheLugz said, I say it's fine since you can't play at those times, but otherwise it kind of destroys the intended experience of the game.

It's just making the game more convenient for you. Nothing wrong with that.

Your first mistake is seeking approval on the forums. Your second mistake is worrying too much about "is it cheating". Do you think its cheating? Do you think you can live knowing for the rest of the game that at some point you "cheated"?

Whether it's cheating or not is somewhat subjective, although I'd say it is. More importantly, who cares? I'm not sure how you could gain an edge in MP games by having a different time, and in single player, well it's your game. Do what you want. Of course, it does depend on the game as well. Setting the date forward in Animal Crossing to get the special christmas event thing is less cheating than setting the clock forward in... I don't know to get butt loads of money or something. I'm sure there's a game you could do that, I forget what...

For the record, I don't do it, ever. But that's me, I'm a retard sometimes.

It is a minor form of cheating I would say. But, like stated before you aren't hurting anyone by doing it. It is also not like you are cheating on a hard boss fight.

I look at it this way. What kind of satisfaction would you get from beating a tough gym leader compared to the satisfaction of being late for work or setting your alarm early?

Well as others have said it basically is but you're only doing it to get round a game mechanic that discriminates against you. Plus it is single player so big whoop.

I did it all the time with crystal so I could get that lapras as well as night pokemon when I really needed them, like Ghastly in sprout tower.
i didn't know you could change the system clock in crystal :/ or do you just mean moving it forwards and backwards an hour for daylight saving time?
I play on my emulator. I have the gameboy game but I don't like burning through batteries. also, the speed feature on my emulator is nice.
