well November's coming, and the Two biggest shooters are being release, but i seriously think i'm going to be having more fun playing Modern Warfare 3 than Battlefield 3, mainly because Modern Warfare 3 feels like it's got more entertainment value. No offence to Battlefield 3, as i regard both as competent shooters, but BF3 just looks boring to me at the moment. the multiplayer trailers sell it better than it's single player ones. I intend to buy both, but i want to look at MW3 in particular

- Spec Ops (i had the most fun with this in MW2)
- Survival Mode
- Regular Multiplayer
- New game modes
- and the usual explosion every 5 minutes campaign.

Now as for BF3

- Vehicle Combat (endangered species of gaming)
- Regular Multiplayer
- Very large scale modes
- Very aptly paced single player.
- Dunno about if it has the Onslaught mode from Bad Company 2.

EDIT: To cover that one small detail none of these games are actually realistic. no matter how textually sexy they make the graphics.

So which one looks like the more enjoyable out of the two?

Bettlefield 3 for me, but that's because I enjoy Battlefield games. If I enjoyed COD games more than battlefield games, I'd prefer COD. It's just an opinion. I play COD from time to time, but I don't enjoy it that much.

"Is is just me"

is the worst possible way to start a forum because you are NEVER the only one.

I'm not getting either so I don't really care that much, I always enjoyed large battles to small battles at any rate.

I'm going to get both, but I think MW3 will be my bread and butter, with Bf3 seeing use when I have time to kill.

I'm gonna be buying both within a month of release, Battlefield 3 for when I want huge battles and lots of freedom, MW3 for when I want fast paced gunplay and general mayhem.

I think MW3 looks maore fun. I was gonna buy both but the way EA has been acting I doubt I'll get BF3 now. And yes I know Activision aren't going to win any customer satisfaction awards with how they treat gamers, but I find EA's attitude to PC gamers utter crap lately.

- Vehicle Combat (endangered species of gaming)
- Regular Multiplayer
- Very large scale modes
- Very aptly paced single player.

Everything else is almost irrelevant.

Plus you have to add in kill-streaks as a negative point for COD 42

MW3
- Spec Ops - agreed, lots of fun. Sadly, it's lots of fun with friends, particularly RL ones and sadly, I'm in short supply of them once you do a crosscut of "friends who are gamers", "friends who have time for gaming" and "friends who have a decent enough computer to run these games".
- Survival Mode - don't find this particularly fun. Might just be me.
- Regular Multiplayer - completely uninteresting to me. It's Counter Strike 2.0 and while I know there are hordes of people who enjoy it, I'm just not one of them.
- New game modes - eh, can't say I heard of them, but considering the above, I doubt I care.
- and the usual explosion every 5 minutes campaign - fun times, but singleplayer isn't why I buy a game like this. I'll play through it elsewhere.

BF3:

- Vehicle Combat - this alone makes Battlefield the winner where I'm concerned. It makes the combat a hell of a lot more dynamic and fun, whether you're in or out of the vehicles. Comeback of the planes and full scale vehicle warfare as a whole is a hell of a "fuck yeah" moment for me too.
- Regular Multiplayer - thanks to the above and the below, this makes BF the most fun shooter franchise for me. I love large games, open landscapes and room for tactical and team-based gameplay. It gives me a multitude of options in how I can play the game, which both allows me to play just the way I want as well as extend the lifetime of the game for me drastically as I try out new things that I'm comparatively less fond of.
- Very large scale modes - huge bonus, particularly with the return of 64 player servers.
- Very aptly paced single player - indeed. From what I've seen out of the trailers, it looks really well done.
- Dunno about if it has the Onslaught mode from Bad Company 2 - not sure, but what it does have is co-op mode. Which kinda parallels the Spec Ops part from the MW3, which is pretty much the only reason I'd consider MW3 in the first place.

You also forgot "new game modes" for BF3 as well. Well, they're not new per se, but with all of them now, you've pretty much got most of MW3 gameplay covered in BF3 as well, save for what I imagine is a CTF mode that's probably somewhere in MW3.

All in all, I just prefer Battlefield. I'm not knocking on MW3, it's a great game for those who like Counter Strike-like gameplay, but it's just not me. However, considering everything BF3 has thrown in for this installment, objectively, I have to say I seriously consider it the better game.

Depends on what you like, the MW2 style of exploding in your face and being killed in every cutscene was to me extremely irritating, it was a bit like having your friends over to play games and one of them will cheat by shaking you so you can't see what's happening on screen.
Only you can punch friends in the nuts to fix the irritation.

In contrast BF2 was paced to my liking, it felt almost like an Indiana Jones movie, the story isn't deep but it has a nice consistent progression in a coherent world, some quiet time and then some action, some character moments and some action again.
And then they announced BF3 will throw away the Indiana Jones part and just go dark and gritty... well that's nice.

So right now I look forward to none of these.

I'd say Battlefield 3, as I can get the same experiences playing MW3 in Blops, MW2, World at War and 4. That's not to say Battlefield 3 has changed a lot, but it does more to innovate and refine than CoD has lately.

I'm not getting either of them since I don't much care for realistic military shooters. Don't like call of duty one bit and don't like battlefield either. But if I had to choose then I would go for battlefield because I think it's a better series personally. But still, not going to buy either of them.

I'm sure MW3 *looks* more fun. But Activision always had a great marketing department. MW2 looked awesome as well. It looked as it was going to be the best thing since sliced bread (I don't get that expression). But in the end, MW2 was extremely frustrating to play. That's why I won't give MW3 the benefit of the doubt. I'm not even going to do that for BF3. Both games can rot in hell as far as I'm concerned. In the infinite sea of gaming, do we really need another modern military shooter? No is the answer you're looking for. But I'll definitely try the new Red Orchestra game. I have a thing for WW2 shooters. And it has some very innovative features.

I only ever played one CoD game, MW2. It was ok but not enough to keep me going back for more.
And EAs approach to battlefield 3 has been hilariously bad with all the origin shit etc.

I'll be on Skyrim instead. Elder Scrolls fanboy FTW

Meh, I've been saying for ages that Battlefield 3 is going to be a victim of its own success. I've never been a huge fan of the Battlefield series. They were fun, but I always felt lost in the huge battlefields, with no sense of direction. Even when I got the hang of the game, it felt like it took to long to get from point A to Point B, and I could never beat my team mates to a vehicle.
Either way, I doubt BF3 is going to be nearly as amazing as many people think its going to be. Its been over hyped to death, and its unlikely it was be able to reach that hype when people actually get a hold of it. Just watch, this is going to blow up in EAs face when Battlefield comes out.
