It's just you.

Battlefield 3 actually looks well-made, too.

Problem is DICE and EA are total dicks, so it's already off of my buying list.

.No.

I'm sure MW3 *looks* more fun. But Activision always had a great marketing department. MW2 looked awesome as well. It looked as it was going to be the best thing since sliced bread (I don't get that expression). But in the end, MW2 was extremely frustrating to play. That's why I won't give MW3 the benefit of the doubt. I'm not even going to do that for BF3. Both games can rot in hell as far as I'm concerned. In the infinite sea of gaming, do we really need another modern military shooter? No is the answer you're looking for. But I'll definitely try the new Red Orchestra game. I have a thing for WW2 shooters. And it has some very innovative features.
I think the best thing since sliced bread refers to the opinion that slicing a loaf of bread was a pain in the ass, and it's awesome now it comes pre-sliced.

I've kinda grown tired of the Modern Warfare games, and BF3 looks enough of a change of pace to grab my attention better.

It's really all speculative though, as neither game is out and which one you like better is entirely based upon personal opinion. Yes they are competing, but not always for the same group of people.

I don't think either look particularly fun. Last BF game I enjoyed was BF2. Not BFBC2. Just BF2. Last CoD game I enjoyed was MW1.

Off topic: I enjoy it when the thread has "Is it just me" in the title since I can play a little game where I see how many posts it is until somebody says "It's never just you" or something along those lines. +1 point for each post that doesn't include that. This thread only scored 2, so not great.

This is a good point. I think this MW3 VS BF3 stuff has gotten out of hand.
The games are similar, and it good to have competition so that the developers are motivated to make their game stand out. But it seems more focused on dick-swinging and fanboy rage (all marketing stuff), than it is on making two different experiences that will have you torn to choose between them due to the awesomeness they both present, which was much more present when MW2 was competing with BFBC2.

If I had to judge on the previous games, then I would take both. Call of Duty has a fast pacing that I really enjoy for cooling down, while Battlefield has the scale.

"Am I the only one in the world who likes the most popular franchise in the world over other things?" Examine sentence and answer your own question. As for me Battlefield looks deeper (I share Total Biscuit's opinion on this one).

at least MW3 doesn't have as many elitest assholes associated with it
Oh hell no. I was playing BLOPS last week and I would need five hands to be able to show you how many times I got told I wasn't playing right, that I was a good for nothing camper (i was ballistic knifing at the time, makes no sense at all), that using last stand makes me a **** and how shooting down spy planes with my LMG makes me a shit player. Both games have their fair share of elitist pricks, just different types.

Anyway OP: You are not the only one, you are never the only one. Asking if its just you makes you wrong because of that simple fact.

I will be going with BF3. One big advantage is it will have dedicated servers across all platforms. I may get MW3 someday but with all the stuff coming out these next few months it is very low priority. I think dedicated servers on console would help MW3 a lot.

I honestly don't care because I will be playing BF3 on my PC and my friend will be getting MW3 for 360 so I will be able to play both.. Even though I'm quite sure I will loose interest really fast.

The only shooter I have ever played where vehicles were even close to properly balanced was Halo 2. Every other FPS I've ever played with vehicles, they have been grossly overpowered and ruined the experience. I have a feeling that's what BF3 is going to be like. I have no interest in playing a game like that.

I, like almost everyone else here, intend on getting both.

I'm not sure which one I think I'll enjoy most though, each game has their own qualities that you can't find in the other.

It's not just you it's just that when you say anything different the battlefield fans trololol you to death. Also you might need this
thanks!!! those fans are 100% unreasonable. i'd be brave enough to suggest right here on the escapist forums to suggest BF3 fans are like the Mac Elitists of the Shooter games. Yes i did go there.

So apparently having perks, killstreaks, etc is realistic now? Huh...

I might go join the army.

[/sarcasm]

Listen, people, Call of Duty is NOT realistic. It isn't. There are so very many things about it that aren't, that listing them would take an awfully long time. Battlefield 3 looks slightly more realistic, but it still isn't.

OT: I dunno. I'll probably get both. Probably one for my birthday and one for Christmas, or something like that.

I am probably going to get both and enjoy both of them but I think that I will spend just a bit more time with MW3. But that is probably just because I have never played a Battlefield game before.

Nuff' said.

Seriously though, I will get both, and enjoy both. They will both be great games, no doubt.
