I totally agree, and just to hash a few of my favorites--Courage the Cowardly Dog, Dexter's Lab, Johnny Bravo on occasion, Toon Heads and the various cartoonist shows (Chuck Jones, Tex Avery, etc), Looney Tunes, Rocko's Modern Life, Invader Zim, Swat Kats, The Pirates of Blackwater (or something like that), Freakazoid...

The references in most of them are surprisingly mature at times. Some were highly fetishistic while consistently portraying that it was still really awkward, and managing to present to us as we watched that this shit was freaky. Exquisitely verbose puns, ironies, and juxtaposition, not to mention character development that wasn't afraid to show both complexity and simplicity--either remarkably afraid while having to suck it up and be brave (though very reluctantly), or so very singularly-minded that they have no limit to how selfish they will become.

The older ones were always better IMO. I really don't like most modern cartoons. (I blame anime, and the internet)

Except Ugly Americans! That show is just brilliant while felling like an Acid trip. Though I'm afraid Comedy Central is going to cancel it like they always do.
WHAT ABOUT CANCELLING UGLY AMERICANS!?! i love that show and i even had a Great idea for it!

Leanord and Mark are in a car, Mark's driving. Leanord yells YELLOW ONE! *Punches Mark* Mark: "Ow, where?" *He looks away from Leanord* *Leanord conjures up a yellow volkswagon on his side* *Mark sees it after Leanord points to it* Mark: "Oh"

And then they keep repeating it :D
And at the end Leanord says "Magic." Thats perfect!

As for the whole canceling ordeal, the show is coming up to its last episode of the season. Knowing Comedy Central they might go ahead a cancel it like all new CC shows. But I have a feeling this show is going to be successful and continue into second season.

If it is canceled I'm going on a rampage!
Same here, but thank you for your kind words, good sir

Two simple reasons why they used to be better.

I am vengeance. I am the night. I am Batman! So fucking epic. Give me Bruce Timm, Kevin Conroy, and Mark Hamil, and I'll give you a fucking Batman series.

Whoever posted that Courage the Cowardly Dog clip, ILY.

God, I used to stay up as late as possible JUST to watch that show.
Did this bastard give you the creeps?

"RETURN THE SLAAABBBB, OR SUFFER MY CUUURRRSEEEE!"

Tell me I'm not the only one :l
I shit you not, that thing freaked me out so bad that I had to sleep on the couch after that episode with my dog on the floor next to me.

The mummy one also freaked me out, along with those zombie directors. D:

Yeah, Phineas & Ferb is pretty awesome, it has some great jokes. But to me it suffers a bit from repetition. Every single episode is marked out, and if you've seen one you've seen pretty much all of them. (I appreciate that you could say that about The Simpsons and Family Guy too, but I realy think P&F takes the cake when it comes to repetition). And there is a song and dance routine in EVERY F***ING episode. I hate musicals, so it doesn't really do it for me.
Why would they not repeat? Their demographic is 5-10. Kids aren't going to notice or care.
yeah lol I guess you're right. It just struck me that if any other show on TV did that it'd be cancelled after the first few episodes... but I guess kids like when they know what's going to happen, if they even notice. I don't remember the kidshows I watched when I was a kid being that repetetive but that might be a fabrication due to nostalgia...
