I like the gun SEs, really befitting that whole "magic" thing.
I don't have a fond memory of the Harry Potter games to begin with and still hate myself for buying into the hype of the first game ("You can do anything you want, it's like you're really a student at Hogwarts!"), but I'm really not interested.
They did the same exact thing with the last game (It sucked by the way). It isn't anything particularly new.
I have some nostalgia for the second Harry Potter game for the PS2 but that's about it. Not interested in this at all though, hate cover based shooters.
To be fair, from reading the books cover-based shooting is all wizards do. The main characters are always defeating more powerful evil wizards by darting in and out of hiding.
Probably gonna suck though, especially as most of the advertised characters only appear in the books last battle, e.g. the last few levels of the game and yet its being touted as the main feature. Also obviously its a movie tie-in.
Ah, Harry Potter: Modern Wizardry 2. Looks a lot like the last one if you ask me. More full auto wands. Meh, the HP games stopped being interesting after the Prisoner of Azkaban.
I played the first couple of games with my little brother, and I thought they were actually pretty good (for kids at least). There was a lot of exploration, and he really liked it. I think that was mostly the first two (or maybe three) games though.
I think this trailer looks pretty crappy to be honest. Even the graphics look bad. Also, I don't really get the premise of the trailer. There is very little epicness in playing as Seamus Finnigan in my opinion. I'm not necessarily opposed to playing as some minor characters, because it is a war after all, but I can think of a lot of other people I would rather play as. Most notably Luna, the entire Order of the Phoenix and all of the teachers.
I especially want to play as Snape for some reason.
Also, they are just showing one thing here. It looks nothing like a Harry Potter game (at least not like the first 4 or so), and it seems to be just a generic shooter now (except with rapid fire wands, which makes no sense). If it is more than that, then why are none of the other elements shown? It seems to me that since they don't have all the horcruxes yet, there is a lot of opportunity for quests and exploration.
I really like the books and I'm very excited about the last movie, and it seems to me that a very good game can be made given this material (even if it is just a movie/book tie-in). But given this trailer, I'm fairly sure that this game isn't it.
1: If anyone here is actually familier with the harry potter books/movies - Am I the only one who finds it amusing that one of the main characters they advertised in that trailer was Seamus Finnigan, one of the least significant characters in the Harrry Potter storyline?
2: I get why the movie had to be split into two parts, because Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows was a long fucking book, with a lot happening. But it really doesn't make sense to give the games the same treatment, considering the first game's storyline felt extremely rushed, and yet somehow managed to make more than half the game consist of filler in the form of unneeded fetch quests. I feel like if the game simply followed the entirity of Deathly Hallows it would've been better.
Looks to be the same tripe they put out for the HP and the Deathly Hallows Part 1 video game.
Honestly, it's purely a cash in game, and cash in games have VERY rarely been any good at all, mostly because they have absolutely no time to put some proper effort into it.
