It's wrong to eat anything smaller IMO.

Takes 1 cow to make a few stakes. Takes a few snails/snakes to make 1 meal.

In other news: there was an experiment where dogs where killed and brought back to life (by draining their blood, leaving them for a few hours then re-inserting it with no permanent damage in most and all living).

For me to eat a dog would be a massive betrayal of loyalty. My own or any it would feel like cannibalism to me. I'm no fan of cats but even still I'd be reluctant to eat them, cause there's a bond there between man and animal. same with horses mankind has come along way on their backs and I don't wanna do them the disservice of eating them.

Huh? They are animals just like cows, pigs and humans. Meat is meat. Nothing morally wrong with that, mentally maybe. I wouldn't mind eating cat or dog, long as it isn't someone's pet.
It might not be clean enough to be eat, or healthy.

Meat is meat. Nothing wrong with eating meat.

For me in the UK (and alot of Europe and America, im guessing) its a cultural thing to have cats and dogs as pets, thats the only reason people shy away from the idea of eating them. But then, technically, all morals are products of one's culture.

So the idea of it being "morally wrong" is relative really.

I'm surprised to see how many people said No, neither are wrong. Escapist you never cease to amaze me.

Btw, that was my vote too.
I don't see anything wrong with it as they are just like any other animal.
Any animal trained and lived with can become a food family pet.
Cats and dogs got the being first and familiarity advantages.

I think the reason they are not being feed to the stuff anything in your face public (unless you count the homeless cause they, umm eat stray dogs and cats) because they taste like crap compared to what you can eat that's readily available.

I've actually had some cat a few years back. It wasn't bad, but I probably won't eat some again. Horse is definitely the best tasting meat, though.

They eat dogs in Korea, and they eat cats in some parts of China, I think. Here in Mexico people would eat xoloitzcuintle (a kind of hairless dog) and it was no biggie.

It's no worse than eating pork, I think. Pigs are intelligent fucking creatures, and way too few people campaign for their rights and stuff.

Meat is meat. I probably wouldn't, just cuz I have been raised "knowing" dogs and cats as friends and companions, in my family and in my culture. So it'd be weird, man.

Nothing wrong with it.
It's meat, just like pigs, cows, chickens, humans...
There's nothing wrong with eating any of those, is there?

Morally: No

Biologically: It may give some complication. Eating carnivores is basicly a bad idea.
You might get sick (Vira, parasites, bacteria etc.)

It's not morally wrong, if you're an omnivore, it's just a cultural taboo in Western society.

I don't think its morally wrong, but then that totally depends on what your personal morals are.
Saying that eating a cat or a dog is definitely something I would not want to experience.

No.

...though if you've build up a relationship with them as pets, and made them trust and depend upon you, then it's a pretty cruel thing to do.

My rule of thumb for eating animals goes as such: I don't eat anything I have an emotional attachment to. It's a good rule, it lets me eat meat, and at the same time not have to be called a hypocrite for eating some animals and not others. Though I can never pick my own crab from fancy restaurants because I find crabs adorable and the act of picking one is enough for me to grow attached to it.

I wouldn't say it was morally wrong to eat cats and dogs, however i would say it is morally wrong to eat someones pet cat or dog!

If you live in a country with an abundance of wild cats or dogs and very few other animals then there is nothing wrong with hunting these animals for food, as long as you kill them quickly and as painlessly as possible.

I saw this video once from a charity campaigning to protect cats and dogs in china from poachers and some of the images i saw of what they do to them are going to haunt me for life. So as long as the animal is humanely killed and none of it is wasted then i don't have anything against eating wild cats and dogs.

In the UK, Dogs and Cats are seen as friends and companions.

I for one wouldn't eat a dog or a cat. That's just me though.
