I love snow (even though quite litirally everyone I know hates it). I love it when it snows and the whole country seems to think it's all one big chaos.
Sure, there's more accidents and stuff. But chaos? It never held me back from doing anything. It even makes driving a lot more interesting.

Yeah, everyone I know hates snow, too. I don't get this. I never minded shoveling snow, and I really like the cold, and it looks pretty and sounds cool under your feet and whatever.
There's the fact that many places aren't equipped or ready for snow. Your comment therefore doesn't make sense. Why should a country that has little or never has snow, with possibly no snow plows, chains for the tires, de-icing material, and etc be expected to handle the snow without a care in the world? Most drivers are morons, now you give them snow which many of them possibly haven't driven in before and causes major accidents. You also have where many people don't have the weather gear necessary to stay outside for an extreme duration.Llil said:
Seriously, if you lived in Snow all your life and suddenly started seeing mass hysteria about a sudden heat wave that your country has never experienced before, and start to wonder why people are dropping dead because of the massive change in their weather life that they're unprepared for, then that'd be the equivalent.
To sum up: Don't expect countries that have little experience with something to know how to properly handle it, especially the civilian sector, and then try and pass off elitest comments about how easy it is for you. It just doesn't work.
As for the thread: U.S. Northwest, Washington. Lots of snow here lately too, tried to shovel out the driveway and get the cars ready, but it's just snowing back down before I can finish. Car can't even operate because the snowplows are off doing who knows what (probably watching the Simpsons episode with Mr. Plow), and almost got stuck in the middle of the road. I'm staying home, thank you.
I do understand why it is like that in other countries and I don't seriously expect things to go that smoothly everywhere. But if it's snowed only a few inches or so, it just seems like such an over-reaction to shut down everything. If it's slippery, you drive slower, etc.Devil said:

I am in Dallas, Texas. It's going to be 74 on Friday, lol. It hasn't snowed yet this year, though it might flurry once or twice. The weather here is the only thing I'll take over the northeast where I'm from. Well, maybe that and jobs.
Well, I live in Canada, just north of the border. Yeah, it's snowing more than it has in a very long time here.
