No their will not be a war with world power vs world power until their is an atomic bomb shield or something. With almost 5000 nuks world wide it won't happen. No WWIII

Uhmm... no?!
A World War would require, you know, several enemy super powers. But there aren't any left apart from the USA. China is busy becoming an economic power, Europe is tired of wars and, yeah, that's about it.
But I'm sure there'll be more small-scale wars a lá Iraq and Afghanistan, "wars on terror".

I like how these sorts of threads are usually started by newer members.
But no, it's not. People are just paranoid and get freaked out if one little thing gets out of place and ruin routine.

Not that anyone really wishes for war NOW
but when the time comes, we will all be rallied up waving flags in the streets.

ww3 isnt going to happen, no one is stupid enough to exchange nuclear weapons (hopefully, i know there are some exceptions *coughkimcough*) but what can you do.

the presence of nuclear technology suppresses a war. The first person to have a conventional strike on a nation gets hit with that nations and its allies nukes, and you need hmm about....10 or so to wipe out a nation the size of the US and we have a few thousand, so i doubt anyone would actually go to war like that.

The only warring nations out there nowadays are poorly developed ones, and within the next 100 years they will become just as developed, if not more so than the current world super powers.

The only worries i have right now is Korea doing something stupid to Japan, causing US backlash leading to another fkin Korean war.

And im really really hoping that China isn't stupid enough to do anything to the US.

I know that russia learned it's lesson during the Cold War when we technologically outpaced em about two decades ago. but you never know, and i don't think we are in the clear of at least some kind of conflict till everyone is on the same technological and developmental par. So that everyone has everything they need and there won't be a need to fight...whatever.

Seriously there is no need to fight anymore. Communism's "crush all democracy" ideology is dead, Russia's economy is dead. China's pseudo-communism prevents them from wanting to war with the US mainly because we are a huge trading partner. In the end, democracy, capitalism, education, and well being will always be at the forefront of every nations constitution.

the only problem areas are the Middle East and Africa, who after some much needed aid from the world powers will be just dandy.

Another note is the war for resources, water mainly but with more conservation and the increased development of desalination we should be fine. Oil will soon become obsolete as we construct new forums of energy.

The middle east to my understanding will easily be able to monopolize on solar and wind technology supplying energy to neighboring countries and what not, we will be fine in the long run as long as no one does something stupid.

The dawn of peace is nigh, when people realize dying sucks we will all be fine.

Yeehaaww! Billy get yer gun, we're havin' us some war 'gainst those damn Aznz! :D

Seriously, no. While I do believe wars are necessary in some circumstances, having one right now would be a terrible idea.

WWIII is going to happen, because time moves 100 paces forward but 99 back. Still I won't consider anything to be WWIII until Germany invades France.

it's time for some kinda conflict - but the nature of the world today is such that it is impossible for a third world war.

Terrorism is rising, unstable/dangerous countries are getting closer and closer to nuclear weapons, and international tension and desent is rising. So I ask you, is it time for WWIII?

I'm not for it
Most of the problems you are putting forth are exaggerated.

Terrorism has ALWAYS been rising :p. Since before the times of Jeebus and his G's.

Something I like to remind people is that nobody extreme enough to kill the world has or will have the means and nobody with the means is crazy enough. Why? Because when you own a country you don't want to screw that shit up. Being a dictator is pretty sweet.

International Tension has and always will be rising. It's like sex. Every once in a while we have tension orgasms (no not always wars, big natural disasters help too) and shit balances out.

As for desent. Again that's always been an issue since before documented history.

Nothing right now is special. At best you could argue that it is easier to see it because of modern communication technology.

Hardly. Nuclear weaponry is like puffing out your chest. Everyone knows that you are a pussy but you do it because you 'think' it'll stop you from getting beat up. (Not YOU you but the figurative person in the analogy).

i'm really hoping thats satire, because it's that mentality that prevent nations from using resources for their own people, forcing them to find work as soldiers (in the case of the Taliban.

That ignorance is seriously stupid. WW2 boosted our economy because of the redevelopment plan the US put into Europe and Japan, they PAID US BACK and increased our trading alliances, not because we just had more factories. Hypothetically we could have just waited it out and then came in and monopolized on their plight.

Another facet of the war + growth correlation is the increased expenditure and therefore flowing money in the economy that comes with building war machines, you could have the same effect by just making a billion furbies and then lighting them on fire. Obama has the right idea, although i disagree with what hes spending the money on.
