He's odd, as this is rarely heard of. I'd not call him much else then that. Seriously, this isn't all that weird.

Captcha: What for. Well this isn't really a thread to show people what for, but whatever you say captcha.

First thing that pops to mind:

"Bjork is absolutely bizarre. Have you seen her videos? She looks like the kind of person you'd see drifting serenely down the sidewalk while languidly eating leaves plucked from the shrubs as she passes."

Therefore, I am now filled with the urge to ask if your brother is Bjork.

If so... yes. Yes, your brother is.

EDIT: I saw your brother's post, and have determined that he is most likely not Bjork.

I am rather disappointed.

I actually am the brother in question here and I find it very unfair for Lewis to do all this and not give me a chance to defend myself so here is my side of the story. I was utterly and completely lost. I had taken what I thought would have been a short-cut to my house but turned out to lead me further away from it. I had no clue as to my whereabouts and even less of an inkling of how long it would be before I would get home. As I continued down a road, I had never heard of before, I started to get hungry and noticed a small bunch of dandelions beside me, I should also mention I had no money for actual food nor did I know where the nearest store was, so the choice was "Do I continue my trek hungry and hope I get home soon for nourishment or do I find out if a dandelion will be able to tide me over until I get home?". I chose the only logical option and it paid off. It didn't taste bad but it wasn't delicious, it took the edge off and so far I have had suffered no ailments or discomfort of any kind. I really don't see what the big fuss is about, I may eat the occasional lily here or a blade of grass there but it's not a regular thing, I was just curious. Frankly I find it weird that others wouldn't do the same.
You are 19 years old and got lost less than 15 minutes away from your house, (I'm guessing a mile or two) Judging by your brother's talk of corner shops and your mention of no money for possible shops it was an urban area. You were not even able to pick out any landmarks or signs towards anything familiar when you stumbled across some weeds.
Presumably there were other people around walking past you in this urban area whom you could easily have asked for directions but you decided instead to pick the weeds out of the pavement and eat them for vital nourishment for the journey ahead.

Are you Bear Grylls?

Also you mention you eat the 'occasional lily'.

1) How many lilies do you randomly come across in your daily travels?
2) Lilies are bloody poisonous: http://wiki.answers.com/Q/What_happens_when_you_eat_an_arum_lily
This post just about knocked me over with LOL. I know a couple of people like this, actually.

But OT, I mostly think the weird part about eating a flower is that other people see you eating a flower. Would I do it? Yes, if I didn't think it was poisonous, but I would do it alone, or with someone who knew why I was doing it.

Yes he is. The story; on his way home my brother felt a little hungry, not staving, not famished just a little hungry. So to cure his hunger he thought that the best thing to do was, not walk the last 15 minutes to home, not find a corner shop and get something but to EAT A FLOWER! He bent down on the side of the road, picked up a dandelion and ate it. No lie. Please tell me that you think that this is as stupid and bizarre as I think. Also if you have any similar stories please tell. Maybe I will think this is less strange then.
Dandelions are perfectly edible, and make a great salad if you're hungry enough and can get enough of them.

I think it's weird you have obsessed enough over it to make a thread, an amusing one, but still. No, he isn't weird, it's a plant, veges are plants and we eat them.

What's wrong with eating a Dandelion? I've heard that they make good tea and are great in salads.
Normal people are weird.

There's nothing inherently wrong with it, but it is still pretty damn weird.

You seem a little defensive of someone being called weird. I'm not saying your projecting (although I may or may not be thinking it), but I don't think anyone is really calling being weird bad by default. There's good weird, bad weird and neutral weird. I'd say this is pretty weird, but nobody's effected by it so its neither good or bad.

The fact that you got lost within a 15 minute radius of your home doesn't bode very well for your sanity plea, but I don't see anything really wrong with eating the occasional flower if you find yourself in a jam.

It's just a shame that your first post has to be one of self-defense. You ruin everything, Lewis!

Oh man this thread xD
I'm getting such a laugh out of this :D
Well I don't know, if he wanted the flower then go ahead, I mean why not? I've eaten stranger things than flowers myself, which counts as food.

Dandelions are actually used to make tea and it's delicious. Also my sister ate a cricket once when she was little. I don't remember because I was a baby but I hear it was hilarious.

Everyone is weird depending on perspective, just as everyone is normal on the same grounds. Therefore, he is both weird and not, entering a quantum state of normal and weird.

I voted no.

nah. that's borderline normal. though i do question his tastes. dandelions are fucking disgusting raw. those things should be boiled and strained a few times first to get that nasty crap out of it. young daisy's on the other hand, are delicious raw. he should try some of those next.

Well I am not that interested in human behavior to begin with. A guy is walking down the street covered in clown makeup, I won't care. Lets say hes covered in green slime and has a hamster in his pocket. The guy will get about 10 seconds of my attention, before I will look away. Find a guy eating flowers on the side of the road, I might just chalk it up to him wanting attention. Look at him, then look away. A guy eating flowers suddenly decides to include me in his odd ritual, then we have a problem. Not a fan of strangers. Not a part of it, do whatever you want. I have seen a ton off odd behavior when it came to coworkers. get people wanting to talk about them. Always just roll my eyes and steer the conversation somewhere else. Not that interesting enough for us to be talking about him.

There isn't anything weird about eating flowers - they have been eaten for centuries after all. As long as you don't pick poisoned ones I don't see the problem here.

It was probably not the most sensible thing to do, for two reasons. Firstly what would happen if someone had sprayed herbicide on them recently enough that they had not died yet, most commercial weedkillers are not that dangerous but they can still cause some nasty effects. Secondly I am assuming you didn't wash them as you had nothing to wash them with so imagine if a dog or other animal had peed on them, dandelions with a side serving of dog whiz doesn't sound like the most pleasant of dinners.

This is true, and I should of said this to start, he is 19.
There's always a first time.

More than once then you probably need to start pointing out that dandelions are of no nutritional value.
If that were a fact that mattered at all in the arena of food consumption then no one would eat cheeto's, drink soda, etc... We eat so much shit that has no real nutritional value and think nothing of it because it tastes good. So no, he's not really that weird.

It's not all that weird to eat dandelions. It is weird to pick one of the side of the street to eat it for nourishment so close to one's residence. He did say he was lost but it wasn't like he was going to be that way for the next few hours in the worst possible scenario. Is it a big deal? No but it is still a bit odd.
