I honestly think Nintendo has the best chances over all but I also think they will let it slip though their fingers falling back on their comfort zones like they always do. Even here everyone says just wait for the new smash bros or mario game but that isn't what people really want they want variety. They want great uniques games from third party developers and original IP's that bring something new and exciting to the table not the same old zelda game over and over. People love the classics and will buy them but that isn't a selling point for the system that is a comfort, it is the standard, it is assumed those things will come and go.

It is the same reason EA's sports titles and COD on the new xbox isn't a big deal. We all knew those games were coming it would have been bigger news if they were not coming out.

If Nintendo thinks I am going to buy their system for the same old stuff they are kidding themselves. I will buy a Zelda game if I own the system but I won't buy the system just for that game.

nintendo was really losing the race, then microsoft looked at how a horse ran and somehow thought imitating something completely different in structure and purpose would somehow help them get ahead, and is now fumbling and falling and injuring themselves running like a complete idiot and going slower than ever before. sony is going at a casual saunter doing not much of anything impressive or different while nintendo does the same while trying to wow the crowd with magic tricks and cartwheels, getting some awkward chuckles and "awws" for at least having spirit, but keeping them from taking the lead. they have a competitive chance now to be sure, but at this point i think people have started leaving their seats and going home, because this race is kind of awkward and sad now...

Nintendo kind of transcends the competition. Microsoft isn't competing with Nintendo or Sony afterall, they're competing with Apple (if they are to be believed). Sony is competing with Microsoft and Apple as well. Nintendo however have always had successful handhelds (the DS prints money after all and the 3DS is starting to do that now too). The Wii won this generation in terms of sales and is still making money for Nintendo. The problem is just launching new hardware. I can't remember the last good hardware launch Nintendo had (was the Gamecube launch any good?) The Wii U hasn't built up as much momentum yet but it's going in the right direction at this point. The right direction for the Wii U that is: which is to make the most out of current technology and make the console as friendly to as many people as possible.

In terms of friendliness I'd say the Wii U already won. You don't have to install games on the system, you can buy, sell and, trade to your heart's content. Smaller games seem to be doing well digitally (based on the 3DS more than anything). The best thing Sony and Microsoft are doing is saying they're not in competition with Nintendo. Nintendo already won while Microsoft basically went out and committed suicide for all the world to see.

What the Wii U needs to do though is massively expand the Virtual Console and get more exclusive titles. Since they've teamed up with Sega it would be great to see some Sega revivals like Power Stone, Panzer Dragoon, Space Channel 5, etc. I mentioned this in another thread but taking the partnership to a new level by having a Mario & Sonic adventure game would probably be enough on it's own so long as they took a route of equality (ie: Mario and Sonic are equal as opposed to visiting one or the other, standing against a new threat so big that even Robotnic and Bowser have to help fight against it).

i'm not much of a Nintendo fan, it was boring when i was a kid and the PSone was my first 'real' console to me that got me into gaming...

but Nintendo is this 'thing' in the gaming world that will never die, so yea, they're 'in', always will be because they have the market on little kids and mom games... although with SMT's move to 3DS i may have to get one... for that game and that game only unless they release more under the Nin-band-o banner *snickers*

Pokemon, Mario, Zelda, with these they'll always have money... now if Sony would freakin' learn from the old man and just beat Final Fantasy 7 with the 'pretty' stick they would be making back all the money they supposedly 'lost' on this years games and all the stupid that is the PS4 coming out -.-

when i think 'Nintendo' i think that one guy from Jojo's Bizarre Adventure, totally chill then all of a sudden smashes you in the face with a truck XD but will always... always... ALWAYS be there... to smash you in the face with that same-god-damned truck XD

cept .... Sony has no say in what happens to FF7, that belongs to Square, who could re-release it on the WiiU if they so desire. (they won't but it'd be funny)

Anyway, they never left, but they do need to get a few of their 'system movers' out, once that happens they'll be fine
