My apologies if this is a repeat thread, i couldnt find any in the search.

Over the recent years PC gaming has become less and less relevant because of the majority of games switching to consoles. I am worried about the future and I want to know what you guys think.

Get the fucking picture.

Actually, there needs to be a more modern version of the picture...

I'm a dirty, filthy console gamer, and even I know that PC gaming isn't dying. It's just not the favorite anymore.

In short, no. No it isn't.

PC gaming is going just as strong, if not stronger than it has been before. Just because consoles are also doing well doesn't mean that PC gaming is "dying".

Do I get to be the first one to post this:

To answer the question, no it's definately not dying. Shogun 2, TOR, Diablo 3, and the Witcher 2, alongside basically everything you can run on a console.

PC Gaming is fine, thanks for asking.

Edit: ninja'd by mere seconds!

Woah, it's been a while since I last saw a thread like this. (ie too soon)

PC gaming is doing fine. It never really stopped doing fine. It's not going to stop doing fine. It'll just change as time goes on, like everything else.

(Ps, can we stop these threads? Like, put a banner on the first page of the forums?)

BTW,

Yeah, it's stronger than ever. PC games aren't as heavily advertised in most media because their target market tends to find its information on the internet through word of mouth.

As long as pc's exist so will gaming on them. Hand held devices are gaining more and more popularity though. I'm more concerned with the death of the pc and the web which will most definitely kill pc gaming and freedom on the internet(through app stores).

Getting a bit of abuse and beat up behind the shed by some developers, sure. But dying? Nope.
Hell one of the most profitable games ever (WoW) is on the PC.

One word. WoW. It's the Avatar of games. Makes everyone want to go MMO (same as go 3d) and since Blizzard games are PC only, PC is great :). Also Steam is really getting in to motion, offering less DRM and there fore less annoyance and we all know it's going to come to that. Choose what annoys you the least.

Erm, no.

The day PC gaming dies is the day that all of gaming dies.

There's way too many people on the PC to give up on it.

And, WE HAVE THE MMOS, WE HAVE MINECRAFT!

This really hurts to say for me (since I consider it to be evil etc. etc.) but... WORLD OF FUCKING WARCRAFT. Yea, PC gaming is doing much better than good. In fact, it's doing great. There are more WoW subscriptions than there are people in my ENTIRE COUNTRY!

Also, there's every single RTS game ever made, several shooters/rpgs/whatnot that are PC exclusive. That are great.

So, short answer: NO!

Long answer: NO FUCKING WAY! It's doing better than ever, much better than most can even begin to imagine.

Not really. To put it bluntly, there are a lot of games that rely on the "shiny factor" to be bought and the PC is the best platform for it. As long as devs still make money off of it, it will live.

I'll give my standard answer to this question, when console games are programmed on CONSOLES, then people can say that PC gaming is dead.

I agree, it's not. I'm not a PC player anymore because I don't have a PC now (crappy laptop)

In my local GAME, PC games fly off the shelf just as qickly as PS3/Xbox :)
