Poll: Is the 360 as destruction prone as everyone claims?

Yes, and no.
Three of my Xbox's have died for no reason what so ever. They just decided one day that they'd had enough of that gaming nonsense, and degraded to an annoying DVD player.
My girlfriends elite died on it's own not too long ago, and she only had it since December.
But, on the other hand, I have several friends who have had their 360s since its debut, and they're doing perfectly fine.
Personally, I think they're magic.

Well, yes and no. Some people get lucky and some don't. I myself suffered a RROD like 3 months after I first bought my 360 back in 2006. After I sent it in and got it back it worked almost perfectly; every now and then it would "cough" and give me a RROD but I just turned it off and back on again and it worked fine. The time between these "coughs" was anywhere between 2 weeks to a month. However, about 6 months ago, so that would be...April, a thunderstorm blacked out the powergrid and fried my 360 so I had to buy a new one. I bought the new one about 4 days after the storm and it hasn't so much as "coughed" or "sniffled" yet.

Mine blushed a little red circle once. I left it for a bit, and when I turned it back on, it was back to normal. Still. Any failure rate over 30% in such a widespread consumer good is ridiculous.

Only the first and 2nd gen 360's were bad. none of the new ones break at all. Even if they do red ring, MSFT will replace it for free even if the warranty runs out. Don't buy a used 360 and you'll be fine.

Well, your pole will be skewed by fanboy tards and PC elitists who have never owned an Xbox 360. From my experience I will say this. I had one RROD after 2 years and they fixed it for free, it works fine now. When it did RROD, I decided to upgrade to the elite (so now I have two 360's, his and hers). I've had the elite for about 18 months with no problem.

The storys you may hear of "I've had my Xbox repaired 12 times" usually come from idiots who have their vents blocked and the system over heats. Big surprise, when they get the system back and put it in the same place, it overheats again. I have MANY friends (both online and IRL) that have a 360 and I think I am the only one who has had to have it repaired.

Now having said all of that, I'm pretty sure that statistics will show that a 360 does have a higher failure rate than a Wii or PS3.

I will also mention that I have a Wii and a PS3 and they have had no problems (aside from the extremely shitty PSN with the PS3 that seems to go down weekly). But they also do not get as much use as my 360.

I've played mine quite a bit, and had it for almost 2 years and I have had not one problem, apart from Bethesda games freezing. >.<

Bethesda games freeze for everyone... Oblivion and Fallout are probably the only games to freeze on my PS3.

Out of everyone I personally know, I'm the only one who's had Fallout 3 and Oblivion freeze on me. My cousin - fine. My friend I lent Fallout 3 to - fine. My friend who has both on his PS3 - fine. And a number of other friends/aquaintances.

I'm the only person >.<

I baught my xbox like 3 weeks ago and i dropped it the other day, the HDD came out but i put all back togethor...

How can you put an "all" back together? And since when was all an object? And if an xbox's hdd comes out that doesn't mean it magically overheats and gets the RRoD.

I ment to say, i put IT all back togethor. And it says destruction prone its not referred specifically to the RRoD. So nerd rage less dude.

I have the Jasper model, which definitely seems to be more durable. No problems since picking thing up. To be fair, I'm also paranoid about my hardware. That thing sits in its own little shelf, mounted a few inches off the rest of the surface to provide clearance for the bottom fans (a major cause of overheating). I don't move it around, I don't fiddle with it, and I don't jump up and down around it. As long as you're smart and careful, it should last.
