People like swearing. It's "edgy" and "non-conformist", and doing it on a public media outlet is like a point multiplier.

That being said, yeah, dropping more F-bombs then the munitions list of WW1 and WW2 combined does seem immature. At times AVGN can be funny but in the end you wouldn't pay to see a movie made almost entirely of dick and fart jokes would you? (+rep to those who get the reference)

Nah, I'm not a fan of overkill swearing.

Other then the shows that revolve around video games here on the Escapist I also watch the VGV and Hardnews on Screwattack.

To be honest, I don't pay much attention to his jokes anymore.
After watching every single episode in the series, I just laugh along a friend's talking to me. A new AVGN video's something different to look forward to once a month, at least.

As for other stuff, the only things I watch are the ScrewAttack Top 10s [http://screwattack.com/shows/ScrewAttack-Top-10s] which are countdowns of random crap and the Video Game Vault [http://screwattack.com/shows/Video-Game-Vault] mini-reviews.
There are more of these videos on GameTrailers, but I couldn't find an adress that linked to a playlist of all the videos. I think most of the best ones are uploaded to ScrewAttack anyway.

I like the AVGN... Sometimes he swears too much and it gets old... But thats what the character is all about...

Plus, nobody can say Ass as funny as James...

It's pretty childish yeah, but compared with other "comediean retro-reviewers" out there, AVGN is clearly the one who puts the most efort into his show. And it's actually up to a certain par of quality.

Thats what he does, hes trying to make a good show and he doing good job. You arent gonna watch wrestling because you wanna see professional fighters seriously fight to death, you gonna watch it because you wanna seen the show.

I don't know if I would call it immature, Ive only watched like 2 or 3 episodes but the excessive swearing is just not entertaining.

I think James once said that his character's "immaturity" was supposed to be like what a child would be if the child was free of consequence or something like that. So he's supposed to be a bit like a child because that's the point.

I think he is both funny and a surprisingly fair reviewer. The Angry Video Game Nerd is a character that is supposed to parody angry gamers in general. I like him

I voted that I watch Yahtzee / ZP only, even though I have seen AVGN..

AVGN was not appealing at all to me.. just a man-child who doesn't understand adult language, and feels the need to curse every .5 seconds.

I get being angry when you die alot, or when something shitty happens in a game, but it's kinda hard to take him seriously (or even appreciate him as a spectacle) when he's just dropping the F-bomb left and right.

Is this some kinda trick question? It's a grown man sitting in a basement (or at least it LOOKS like a basement) playing bad Nintendo games while spewing a massive number of swears. Of course it's immature that's at least half of the reason people enjoy his stuff, if you took almost anything he says seriously then you missed the point by quite a lot.

also he wears a pocket protector. that is just wrong. even if he is suppose to be a nerd.
