I dont no about you but I like many others cant stand MW2 but even more so the people who constantly ride my ass all the time about having any other opinion about the game other then kissing the floor it walks on.
But then I got to thinking about it and I wondered, if I didn't have to hear or play with those loud mouth pricks who go around praising the game like some sort of God, If I might have actually liked the game?

So tell me if you think its just the people who made you hate the game not the game itself?

I hate MW2 because of the game, it's seriously imbalanced in comparison to other shooters. The community isn't that big of a deal, ANY POPULAR GAME will gather loud mouth pricks into it and have them praise the game, even if the game went from indie to mainstream, it always happens.

I believe Pimppeter2 and his review-buddy (who's name I can't remember) has a review/debate on this. Was very entertaining and very well though out.

I would say the game, though. I don't know if it's just me, but I almost never run into the dumb-asses most of you guys seem to. Do I hate snipers? Yes. Is there always a lot of snipers in a shooter? Yes. Do I sneak around and knife them all? HELL YES!

However: *Ahem*

NOOB-TUBING IS UNFORGIVABLE!

I played the game strictly for it's single-player campaign, and thoroughly enjoyed it.

As far as I'm concerned most of the hate stems from it being trendy.

The game has a few issues insofar as balance is concerned in MP, and the decision to drop dedicated servers on PC was no doubt a mistaken one, but it's a good, fun, well made title, that for all intents and purposes came very close to living up to the game it was a sequel to.

The amount of frothing at the mouth hate the game seems to drum up is wholly undeserved, and I really don't get it. If you hate the game SO GODDAMN MUCH why are you bothering to concern yourself with it? Just go play a game you like and get over yourself.

The same complaint I had for MW 2 is the one I now have for NHL 11. The competitive multiplayer is horribly unbalanced. I don't know that much about MW 2's micro-transactions or other cash grabs outside of a few maps, but NHL 11 allows players to buy boosts that increase their performance. The performance is largely based on these numbers and those with extra money to plunk down can quickly come in and dominate, regardless of their actual skill level. There's also no match-making to pair you up against a similarly rated opponent, so quite often games turn into mismatches.

MW 2 is the same in the sense that it doesn't care about providing a balanced multiplayer experience. For some reason, its players are more tolerant of the broken game play, yet they love to complain about it, making the community just as bad as the game. At least Halo, TF 2 and others provide an environment where veterans are given the same options as relative newbs and skill is allowed to rule the day. Gears is mainly like this as well, though it suffers from host lag and a few cheap tactics.

I don't "hate" MW2 at all.

Sure, the campaign was tremendously underwhelming, and I know better than to touch the game's multiplayer. I may have been disappointed by it, and I do wish I hadn't payed full price for it, but hate is too strong a word.

If the problems with the game existed and people DIDNT exploit them then that would be fine, and if the problems with the game didnt exist then people COULDNT exploit them so that would be fine.

So yeah, both. If glitches and the like exist people are stupid enough to think they are allowed to exploit those glitches (take the recent bitching from Halo Reach players who got punished for cheating, they went insane because they got punished for doing something wrong. They truly believe they are allowed to do anything they want as long as they benefit from it, claiming they [Bungie] are punishing their fans... Forgetting that A) They only banned 15,000 people, nowhere near how many people play Halo Reach and B) If they hadnt punished the cheaters that would mean they are punishing the honest players by allowing cheating... THAT would have been punishing their fans.) and that somehow makes them good at the game, they arent and it doesnt.

I personaly liked the mad-out-there story, mainly because I compared it to a James Bond film. I think online is where it got annoying, because everyone was finding exploits and glitches to abuse, and Infinity Ward somewhat left it. Even now the Akimbo 1887s are still deadly-overpowered despite being "fixed". Treyarch seem to be dedicated to the online so that's why Black Ops will be untouchable for a couple of years.

I don't hate the game itself or love it....im neutral. I do hate some of the prick on it but i have not met many pricks because of party chat...but i have met some. But just because I kinda enjoy it doesn't mean that its the best game EVAR...i will take halo and a bunch of other games over it any day...hell i haven't even played it in about 3 months.

I enjoyed playing it, mostly, I don't play it any more though.
You can't really blame the players for using all the overpowered stuff, as it shouldn't be there in the first place.

I can't honestly say I hate the game because I never played it myself, but I can say that my flat-out refusal to go anywhere near it stems from Infinity Ward fucking over the PC customers in ways previously unimaginable to me.

I had fun with the short, albeit enjoyable, singleplayer campaign. It's a lot like a 5 hour action movie. However, it's all fluff and doesn't have the staying power of an RPG.

My opinion is only half formed since the only multiplayer I did was with one other person offline. I just didn't really care for the game on the whole.

Well it is a mediocre game that is over-hyped. So a combination of both.

If it just went by quietly with little fuss, it would be all right only it is so pandered to by game critics and industry analysts following sales figures:
-The developers that have gone under to spite releasing far better games that didn't sell well enough
-Other developers and publishers will take MW2 as a bad influence, they won't think they have to make a genuinely good game just generate enough hype.

I liked the gameplay but I'm with Yahtzee as I agree a game has to stand up on its single player. Modern Warfare had a great single player campaign,i it was fresh and original and innovative. It told a great story and that all combined into a great shooter. MW2's story was not so good and the gamneplay, while the same as the original, felt stale and repetitive. I still enjoyed it to some extent but not as much as I would have if they'd made a longer, more thought out campaign. The story could have stayed the same, but if it was a few more hours in length it would have been much tighter.

Multiplayer is still good but for me the maps weren't memorable and the gameplay wasn't changed enough to make the purchase satisfying.

Oh and the MW2 fanboys are annoying and constantly ignore the kind of stuff I mentioned above when defending it. Look, it's fun to play multiplayer but if they're going to do a half arsed job of single player they might as well just make a multiplayer only game.

In saying that, I'm very much looking forward to Treyarch's latest effort. WaW was fantastic and Treyarch look like they've got another great title on their hands. Not to mention a multiplayer mode that might actually interest me enough to play a bit online.

People hate it because they're contrarians who must hate on the popular. Overall the game is good and not as unbalanced as people make it out to be..... there is a counter for everything...... sick of air support? Get cold blooded and carry a stinger and the problem is solved. Sick of knives? walk around with a shotty or shield. Sick of campers? Grenades work wonders as does going in guns blazing. Noob tubers? well if you're having trouble with them then you need to suck it up and get some skill.

The game is frustrating because you pretty much die in 1 or 2 hits which leads to a lot of deaths that you might not think is fair IE. running around a corner only to die seemingly instantly or running past a window then being shot to death from some guy 400ft away.

Also MW has been around for ages which leads to lots of highly skilled players and it can be frustrating for noobs to get into it as they die non-stop. If you stick with it for a week or two and learn the maps and strategies you'll start having tons of fun.

I dislike just about every realistic military shooter... with the only exception being Black from last generations Xbox... I just find most of them severely token, unoriginal, underwhelming and very average at best...
