No, I see them as poison to the industry like 'the others'. Not gonna lie, I loved them through their Gamecube years and before (knowing very well they weren't perfect), and I still love their old games, but not only do they make nothing for me (commercial trite), but this crap with Youtube, over-priced DLC and what not has made me lose faith in them altogether.

They are really disgusting now. Even if I still loved their games, I would still be greatly disappointed with all this anti-consumer behaviour, to the point I would not buy from them anyway. I don't care if they drop out anymore.

Also, is it true Miyamoto doesn't allow traditional Mario games to have a story? Because that is backwards thinking right there.

Really don't care. There are NES/SNES games I love and still play to this day, but there's been exactly two games in the past decade they've put out that I have any interest in playing(Twilight Princess and Super Mario Galaxy) and I dislike the whole Wii-motion controller gimmick. Everything else seems to be "Oh, look yet another Mario/Zelda game". They can do what they want but I have no interest in buying.

Nintendo consoles are the only ones I buy. Why go Sony or Microsoft when most their games are better on PC.

I stop caring for them past the Wii era (I wanted proper games! Not some cheap arse party motion games!) and I still continue to do so (F you for making the Limited Edition FE: Fates far too limited that it's all sold out when it come to preorder)!!

A lot of people in the thread seem to be marking Nintendo down for the Wii?

Literally the third best selling home console of all time (and only a few hundred thousand units behind number 2).
1 of only 3 home consoles to sell more than 100 million units.

You can say motion control this, and shovelware that all you want, it doesn't change anything. There were absolutely amazing games on the Wii, I own at least 20 that have no motion controls whatsoever.

What about the list of amazing RPGs on the Wii? like *deep breath*
Xenoblade Chronicles
Fire Emblem
Okami
The Last Story
Muramasa
Monster Hunter
Rune Factory
Tales of Symphonia DotNW
Final Fantasy IV the after years (yes, a wiiware title before anything else)
Arc Rise Fantasia
Fragile Dreams
Little King's Story
Phantom Brave
Sakura Wars
Tales of Graces (A Wii game before coming to the PS3)
Baroque
Pandora's Tower
Harvest Moon
Super Paper Mario
Shiren the Wanderer
Spectrobes
Opoona
Dragon Quest (multiple titles, not all making it to the west)
Final Fantasy Fables

There are countless games that have been ported to various other non-nintendo consoles that originally started life as Wii exclusives (and developed specifically for the Wii).

The Wii was good for the industry, it brought shit loads more people into gaming, it showed the industry as a whole that you don't need to make gritty shooter #882 to move consoles. As somebody already pointed out a few replies above me, it was wake-up call to Sony and Microsoft - I see the console wars on the internet for last gen all the time, MS fans saying the 360 won, Sony fans saying the PS3 won, both sides wrong because Nintendo outsold them both by a huge margin.

It was so limited that when it was announce for pre order on April 1st, it was sold out later that day in both GAME and the official Nintendo site! I didn't knew about it being your average gamer til it was way too late!

Heck I even read reports that even those that did preorder at the last minute got a email that it never went through with the orders.

Right now I only using this to get emails when they restock which is unlikely... https://www.nowinstock.net/uk/videogaming/games/fireemblemfates/

Seriously I outright refuse to buy the Birthright and Conquest versions. I know the game is awesome but dammit I only want the Limited Editon (it should had been a special edition given to the many people that actually want to buy it but can't!).

I bought the digital version in the end because having my path pre-chosen sounded aweful. To me after playing there was only one path that makes sense and I could have picked the wrong one by a 50% chance.

Nintendo.

I can't tell if it's on purpose or if it's because they're so out of touch with the rest of the industry, but a lot of their decisions and policies definitely haven't endeared them much to me over the last few years.

- Product Shortages with amiibo
- Region locking systems
- Censoring game content (not talking about clothing underaged girls or removing boob sliders)
- Not releasing fully translated games outside of one region, even as downloads
- Archaic account management tied to one system at a time
- Neglecting a huge library of first party IP in favor of safe bet iterations
- Not packing chargers with New 3DSs
- Limiting availability of the smaller New 3DS in North America to blink and you'll miss them special bundles.
- Refusal to lower the prices on their products until well after anyone would bother to pick them up anymore for fear of "devaluing their products"
- shoe horning "gimmicks" to the detriment of games (Star Fox Zero)
- Miyamoto. Yeah, his involvement in developing games is more of a detriment than anything else in more recent releases. Just because he thinks Mario doesn't need a story doesn't mean there shouldn't be stories or characterization in any of his games. Also, I've played Star Fox on SNES and N64, I don't need the same story told to me a third time with slight variations. I honestly think people are afraid to challenge or question him just because of his legacy.

They're by no means the worst company ever, but damn is it hard for me to keep supporting them with a lot of these anticonsumer decisions.
Here, I'll quote CircularLogic88 from a couple days ago. I'm done with Nintendo for the time being. I'm just tired of putting up with all of the above. I don't see much value anymore. I'm happy with my 3DS, but I won't being buying a new system anytime soon.
That's nifty that I was quoted outside of another thread, but please don't misunderstand, I love Nintendo and part of me loving Nintendo is calling them out when they're acting the fool.

I'm still very much interested in the NX and the new Zelda and exploring the Alola region in Pokemon Moon. I just want them to do better with their PR and marketing and business decisions.

No i dont. most of times nintendo do is rehash same 80s franchise over and over and over again.
Brilliantly this is coming from a guy whose most anticipated games this year are Doom and Shadow Warrior 2 - two rehashes of old franchises

OT: Yeah I'm still a fan.Sure they make mistakes but so does every gaming company

1. You Sold Rare Off to Microsoft The very people who were partly responsible for propelling your little 64-bit console to greatness. I don't know why the hell you did this, but it's clear that you screwed up BIG time. You hear me, Nintendo? Big time.
I agree with you on most of your points, but not this. The quality of Rare's games started to decline in a big way towards the end of their tenure with Nintendo, since many (if not most) of Rareware's super-talented staff had left the company. This is probably why Nintendo decided to finally let them go in 2002.

Note that I said 'let them go': Nintendo didn't sell Rare, but rather saw topping Microsoft's $375M buyout offer as an investment they were unwilling to make. If you were to take a look at Rare's output since 2002, would you agree with this conclusion?

Well... To be fair... It doesn't look like Microsoft ever gave them a lot of leeway on what to make. And when they did, it was often to problematic results like Perfect Dark Zero. But I'm suspecting that was mostly Microsoft there and generally bad timing and etc.

And I liked Nuts & Bolts a lot. Just didn't think it was a good BK game of course.
