I see nothing wrong with new video series, just more variety.
About the only videos I watch are ZP, Unskippable, and Rebecca Mays Muses. I haven't watched ENN yet (stupid PS3 browser...), but it will probably go in that list also

Nope, I'm glad there's a lot of content on the Escapist. What with the many badges, contests, videos, articles, quizzes, user groups, forum games, etc, it's impossible to grow bored of this site. I hope they continue adding new content until there's something for everybody on this site (so long as those somebodies are still gamers; I don't want a bunch of new people gradually shifting the content here away from gaming).

Content? No. It's got something for everyone. Not everything is my cup of tea, but I'm sure each feature has its own set of fans.
Exactly. We certainly don't expect everyone who visits to adore every single piece of content we provide - I mean, we'd love it if you did, but that's just not very realistic. People have varying tastes and interests. To keep you happy and entertained, we do our best to provide a wide variety of content. Maybe ENN isn't your thing, but you really love Science! Perhaps you don't have enough time to read the news, so you just take a moment to enjoy Stolen Pixels. The more content we provide, the more likely it is that you'll find something - or several somethings - that you enjoy.

Nope. I love the content here and I'm glad the staff of the Escapist are doing a great job of bringing new good quality stuff in. The more the better I say. It's only going to do good the the site and the community.

well its not like anyone is forcing anyone to watch stuff they do not like, but still sooner or later it will collapse under its own weight just like, and im sorry for this metaphor, just like 4chan's /b/. Lets just hope it takes so long we wont be here or care anymore.

Also, yes i am a pessimist :)

what the heck are you talking about? trying to please everyone pleases no one? How is that even possible on optional content. Most people are here for the things they like and ignore the things they don't. Anything that is not liked enough gets canned, it's how this works. Pointless topic.

No Moar stuff, Moar I say.

...No really, the escapist is a little cluttered but not to the point where I think someone new would log on and go; "WOAH NELLY, not today chester." I would think they'd be a little more like "Oooo lots of shiny stuff to abuse." And then scuttle off to take their daily dose of Ritalin.

'-' What.

This, right from the Arendt's mouth.
Really, though, I don't see why it would be a problem; Each show/game/periodical seems to be pretty stand-alone. I mean, The Escapist forums are very independent to the rest of the content of the site, which I think is pretty special.

I look at it like an all you can eat buffet. Just because it appears to have everything, doesn't mean you have to partake of everything. No two users will want the exact same content, so the variety offered here seems like a pretty good thing to me.

It's great. I can't get enough of this site. I've seen other fourms and sites and when I conpare this to them... it feels as if this site is a snctuary.

What I'm really saying is that, no. This website actually needs more stuff if possible.

Thanks for this comment. This was kinda what I was trying to convey with my topic, whether all the new features, mixed in with the existing stuff, was making things cluttered or not. If I had been introduced to this site now, I'm not sure if I'd be overwhelmed by the front page and not want to explore, or if I'd get totally sucked in by the various 'shinies'.

But as was pointed out to me several times already, if I don't like something, don't listen/read/watch it. Great! I'll keep that in mind as I pour through the various segments trying to find the stuff I like. If it already exists, then shame on me for not looking hard enough, but if there was an option on our profiles to filter things out, in order to quickly get to stuff we want to see, that would be awesome.

More stuff caters for a bigger population which keeps the forums diverse, and interesting.

EDIT: also I joined in july, and have 370 more posts than you, are you really on that much?
Perhaps some people come to be entertained, and not to post? Most places on the internet call this phenomenon "lurking."

Reug, I'm on at least once a day (I've actually made The Escapist my home page). If you have far more posts than I in a much shorter time, right on! Just means you have more to say, I suppose. I only comment when I really think what I say can add something to a given topic, or if its something I REALLY need to say.

Edit: Oh, and thanks to everyone who voted and/or commented on this, my first thread. The stats so far are quite interesting.
