Maybe he's just a little mentally unstable.

There was a kid in my high school that told people he had magic powers. He really believed it, and was honestly hurt when he inevitably got harassed.

Meh. As long as it isn't bothering anyone else, I probably wouldn't care.

I didn't even have to read the post, just the title is enough for me to say attention.

Considering most law students I know have a stick up their bum that is large enough to club an entire colony of cute baby seals to death, I kind of believe he is just taking the piss out of people.
Which makes him automatically more likeable any other law student I ever met.

So yeah, I vote unique, pretty, probably somewhat dysfunctional flower.

Do you know the guy? How does he act? I can't make an assumption if I don't know anything about his personality.

The main reason to be unique is gain attention, it's both, thats the same for almost all unique acts or fashions.

It is attention whoring, of course, it's going to get attention. But if it's funny and not harming anyone, so what? Go forth unique eccentric flower :)

My guess is he woke up one day and thought, hey I have a mr. fantastic costume lying around, lets wear it to law school just for kicks, but then he realized that after that everyone expected him to continue wearing costumes and now he is trapped in a nightmarish realm where he has to constantly come up with newer and zany-er costumes otherwise everyone will start looking at him funny wondering why he isn't being ``himself´´ anyomore, and what started as a cute little joke has evolved into a horrible entity that has consumed his entire life and now he is there before you, a broken and empty man.

Or he just does it for fun I don't know

I honestly can't answer this because it depends on context and perspective.

If he's doing it just for his own laughs and he genuinely doesn't care what people think of him, then he is unique and eccentric.

However, if he is attention seeking then it follows that he does care what people think of him. So the answer can be either depending on the motive.

Does he like getting his lunchbox out? Because all that spandex to me equals an excuse to parade his er, man-parts at every available opportunity. Therefore, he would seem just a tad insecure about his manhood.

Or it could be like that French film Le Moustache where the guy shaves his 'tache off and no one seems to notice and he starts to go crazy. Good film.

He's being an attention whore, but there is nothing wrong with that. We all have needs, and if getting attention makes him happy then all the power to him. Who am I to tell him he's wrong?

Depends, if he's having fun I'd applaud him for having major balls.

And ofcourse he's an attention whore.

Sounds like an attention whore.

This is not being unique, this is being unnecessarily weird just for attention. Also, why does somebody have to wear abnormal clothing or have a weird hair color in order to be considered unique?

EDIT: How did I get double posted?
This, I also have the same question.

Im the only guy I know of my age that wears a suit, i'd say that is being far more unique than getting my nose pierced, dying my hair purple, and listening to emo music whilst cutting myself.

That depends, what does he talk about when you talk to him?

Is he productive in School, atleast from what you know.

I personally think if he gets one smile/laugh out of someone throughout his day, he succeeded in what he is most likely attempting to do.
I share your sentiment. By doing this he gives people little "wtf was that" moments to break them out of their boring day-to-day routines, and maybe even give them a funny story to tell their friends and family. Plus, it's a conversation starter with strangers: "Yo, did you see that guy?"

Usually people who don't like such "stunts" are bland individuals who get irritable when the careful order in their lives is disrupted by miscreants...
True this, yo.

From your description, he likes attention... but does he actively seek it, or does he just wear the costumes and act "normal" aside from that? Attention-whoring is much more about attitude than clothing.
